Situated up a quiet lane in the centre of ancient Pickering, Pantile Cottage could not be more inviting…. This deceptively-spacious, two bedroom cottage, has been lovingly brought back to life. The owners love this place like their home and have recently redecorated, retaining the history, character and features of the property throughout. It is bursting at the seams with homely Victorian touches and quirky, local decorations; William Morris wallpapers, iron bed frames, natural carpets and interesting Arts and Crafts objects fill each room and wrap you up in a bygone era.
You can enter at the front of the property, handy for town, or from the gated, private parking area and lovely courtyard to the rear. In the sitting room, there is a multi-fuel stove (a starter set of kindling and logs is provided to get you going); snuggle up on the sofas with books, games, a speaker with aux port and smart tv to keep your whole group thoroughly entertained. Into the kitchen, which overlooks the courtyard and seats four very comfortably and cosily, just next to the Aga. And then through to the well-stocked games room at the rear of the cottage with board games, a pool table and additional tv. The two beautifully decorated bedrooms sleep four (one twin and one double room) and are at either side of the house, separated by the staircase, and share a shower room with waterfall shower. Outside, there is a quaint courtyard with seating and vintage signage.
If you fancy eating out, Pickering is very lucky to host a multitude of highly-regarded restaurants, pubs and cafes, as well as independent shops at every turn. Local activities include the North York Moors Steam Railway, Pickering Castle, and the Beck Isle Museum all giving you a peek into the past. Children will be exceptionally well-occupied, not least by the wonderful games room, but with Flamingo Land theme-park a mere 8 minutes way, the coast just 35 minutes away, Dalby Forest’s bike and hiking trails and Go-Ape just up the road, and the North York Moors on your doorstep. Why not try the (second) highest pub in Yorkshire - pop into the Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge for a refreshing pint and home-cooked meal next to a roaring fire after a day out on’t Moors.
There is plenty of space for a friends or family gathering with private parking for 3 cars and further on-street parking available close by. Also, bicycle storage - please bring your own padlock to secure it.
