  • Fabulous rural property on a traditional North York Moors farm steading
  • This lavish barn conversion offers guests a touch of luxury
  • The west-facing garden is a tranquil spot for sunset drinks

Property code: OC-WA315

Hog Barn is a wonderful example of a traditional 200 year old North York Moors former farm steading. It is brand new to the luxury holiday market having been painstakingly renovated to a very high standard by the owners who live in the farmhouse across the courtyard, and who are on hand to welcome guests and help with anything you might need during your stay.

Even the bleakest of moorland winters couldn’t dampen the warmth from the roaring fire and extensive underfloor heating as you step over the threshold. Beautifully lit and cosy, Hog Barn pays homage to its humble beginnings as a pigsty with handcrafted ironmongery, wide plank oak flooring, exposed stonework, preserved historic beams and picture windows where the original openings once were. This is juxtaposed against modernity with quirky lighting and stylish artwork, a premium kitchen with quartz work surfaces and breakfast bar, and gorgeous, high-quality shower rooms, as well as a smart tv in each bedroom and the living space.

The two good-sized bedrooms, sleeping four (one with a king size bed and the other super-king or twin, upon request), each with their own ensuite lie at either end of the living space, handy for those who appreciate the extra privacy whilst away. The open plan living space incorporates a living area, dining and kitchen; perfect for those family or friends’ get-togethers. At one end, a living area with two contemporary sofas, log burner and smart tv. The well-equipped kitchen is at the other end and provides a great sociable space with a breakfast bar for people to congregate around whilst somebody else cooks up a storm. With a period welsh-style dresser, all mod cons and picture window with views out to the private garden. Sited in between, is the dining area with a rustic oak and painted table, Parisian cafe-style chairs and French doors out onto the dining terrace and large garden beyond. Imagine having a fresh coffee on a crisp morning listening to the birds or taking in the summer sunset through the trees with a glass of wine. The garden boasts rattan outdoor dining furniture and a bbq, is private, west-facing and secure, surrounded by majestic, mature trees and historic dry stone walling. For the little ones, there is crockery and cutlery and a travel cot can be available upon request to the owners. The property has the addition of a laundry room with washing machine and bicycle storage for six bikes, accessed off the shared courtyard/parking area.

It was a pleasure to stay at Hog Barn. The owners were very welcoming and helpful when needed and the location is excellent. The house itself is warm and comfortable, and easy to access with car park on site and very close to the front door. Good walking country and wonderful views.

Comfy well equipped cottage in a very quiet and unspoiled setting, in walking distance to three good pubs (as long as you don't mind a short walk) The owner is attentive and provided excellent local knowledge and advice. A very enjoyable stay.

I lovely clean/warm cottage in a quiet location in the beautiful North Yorkshire moors. My wife and I were able to go walking from the door. In the knowledge that when we returned, the barn would be clean, warm and dry. Not too far away were Staithes and Whitby , both worth a visit.
