Ivy Lodge is a beautiful Grade II listed architectural gem, hidden in the Suffolk countryside and close by to the wonderful waterside villages of Orford and Aldeburgh. Formerly a gate house to Rendlesham Hall, this incredible flint and stone building dates back to the 19th century with the stone alleged to come from Butley Abbey.

Steeped in history and boasting many of its original features, this magnificent home has been transformed into a luxury, modern holiday home for four, whilst maintaining much of its character and charm. The grand castle-like tower, adorned with lead-lined and sash cord windows, and its hexagonal shape are just some of the wonderful features of this home. This beautiful bolthole plays host to two gorgeous bedrooms both with their very own bathrooms. The living room has sumptuous sofas and a roaring log burner for those chiller days, as well as a bright sunroom to escape to and enjoy a good book.

Perfect for romantic retreats, a family getaway or a girlie weekend, Ivy Lodge is the ideal spot for your next Suffolk staycation. Immerse yourself in the exquisite interior design throughout, enjoy a morning coffee in the glorious garden or venture further afield and explore the lovely local area.

Spacious, comfortable & everything you need. Excellent Welcome basket. Large secure garden was excellent for the med/large dog (who settled immediately) to mooch safely around (Squirrels for mental stimulation, training to continue!). Lovely forest walks within 5 minute drive. A truly relaxing break exploring villages.

This was the second time that we have stayed at Ivy Lodge, We love it as it is so comfortable with welcoming touches such as fresh flowers in the rooms and has the most generous "welcome basket" we have ever seen! The owner is very helpful and friendly and the cottage is in a lovely woodland location. We hope to stay again next year.

An exceptional property in terms of its history, location and the care and attention given by the owner to ensuring visitors are welcome and valued. Given that Ivy Lodge opens its doors to as many as four dogs there is no paring down of its interior: stylish as well as practical. For those wishing to rustle up a banquet all required is at hand. FoRead morer others who prefer to dine out, the opportunities are close by at Aldeburgh, Snape, Thorpness and Leiston to name a few areas. The safe grounds are attractive and alive with wild life. For four visitors the weekly price is good value (no stinting on heat or hot water). The welcome hamper is one of very best encountered from someone who has stayed in at least five holiday properties this year. Although any review is subjective, Ivy Lodge is very worth visiting. Another wonderful break - our fourth - at Ivy Lodge. Some cottages you just feel totally relaxed and at home in, and this is one of the best we've ever known. Very clean, comfortable, and beautifully placed for the walks in the Suffolk countryside that we (and our greyhound!) so enjoy. Already booked for next year....

Last year we stayed at the Lodge 2 weeks after our dog had died. We said we would come back when we had another dog and we are so glad we did. Mack had the time of his life. So many walks - woodland, parkland and beaches. The Lodge is perfectly located for all three. We enjoyed ourselves too - coming back to a warm homely well appointed lodge each Read moreday was so relaxing. We recommend visiting Orford - having lunch at the tearoom overlooking the quay was brilliant. Rendlesham and Tunstall Forest are perfect for walking - although we only did a very small part of the Viking Trail. The Reed bed walk and the Marsh Meander at Old Hall Southwold are not to be missed but they are a bit muddy at this time of year.If you are thinking of staying at Ivy Lodge - do - you wont regret it. We loved this cottage. There was plenty of space to spread out while chatting with friends but the cottage still had a nice cosy feel to it. The upstairs room with its own bathroom was ideal for our group. Lots to see and do in the area.

A wonderful unique cottage, well situated to enjoy the beautiful Suffolk coast as well as inland woodlands and heathland. Whilst it is on a main road, the lodge and gardens face away from it and the traffic noise was perfectly fine. Mostly I could just hear the birds. I'd love to come back.

I had a Tesco food delivery on the first day to save me going shopping on my holiday which is a bit of a bugbear of mine. I really recommend Tunstall Viking woods to take the dogs. There is also the cove at same place which is a private water park for dogs, sadly it was fully booked, but next year Im going to pre book. Some reviews have said it is noisy with the traffic, my tip, put the fan on at night works a treat.
