Sheldon Barn is a lovely barn conversion, a first-floor apartment providing fantastic views over the Peak District countryside. It is a real ‘home from home’ with a super lounge with stylish sofas, a smart dining area and two attractive bedrooms each with bath/shower rooms. Set on the edge of Monyash, with countryside walks and cycle rides radiating from the barn door, there are few better places for a holiday in Derbyshire.

Monyash is an attractive village nestling in the Derbyshire Dales near to the famous market town of Bakewell. With its village green, peaceful mere and great pub, it is just a quintessential country village. Have a morning stroll along the lane to the local café for breakfast or laze away an afternoon by the mere.

Bakewell, just ten minutes’ drive away, is surrounded by many holiday attractions. Chatsworth’s fantastic house, gardens and adventure playground and tranquil Haddon Hall are not to be missed. Parsley Hay’s cycle hire, Peak Rail’s steam trains, Matlock Bath’s cable cars, Crich's tramway museum, Castleton’s caverns, and Peveril Castle standing proud on its ramparts, are not much further afield.

The property is on the first floor, accessed via an internal staircase; the barn’s ground floor is used by the owners for storage and facilities for their B&B business. The barn’s accommodation comprises:

Living Room: with coal-effect electric stove, comfortable sofas, Smart TV, stereo and WiFi; oak dining table and chairs.

Kitchen: with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

Bedroom 1: with king size bed and En Suite: bathroom with shower over the bath, basin and WC.

Bedroom 2: with twin beds.

Shower Room: with shower enclosure, WC and basin.

Outside: There are beautiful gardens with garden furniture and a small orchard, shared with the owners and their B&B guests.

There is also secure storage for bikes by arrangement.

Parking: is available together with an electric charging point. Electric car charging @ £0.50 per KWh, minimum fee £10; payable to the owners at the property.

Well appointed and spotlessly. An excellent centre for walking / exploring the White Peak. The owners were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. We were made to feel very welcome with cakes, bread, eggs and milk.

Sheldon Barn is a good base to travel to all parts of the Peak District easily and plenty of nice pubs with good food minutes drive away too. Has all you would need for a good stay with a well stocked kitchen and good living space and comfortable bedrooms. Lovely home made goodies etc in a welcome pack and oodles of helpful information on whole aRead morerea. Bathrooms/well showers mainly, were a little troublesome but hopefully may be remedied by owners? Great pub a few mins walk away at end of the village The Bulls Head (huge portions lol) and great cafe next to it where we had breakfast on check out day. A nice quiet spot to stay! Hide

We had a good stay despite rather mixed weather. The accommodation is mostly very comfortable and well appointed, but the bathrooms are rather dated and the headroom in the showers is limited - OK for us, but might not suit a tall person. The owners live at their B&B next door and were very helpful and welcoming. There are plenty of walks on thRead moree doorstep and nearby, with maps provided, The EV charging point is at the rear of the barn and easy to use. Hide

Cottage excellent - only thing I would have preferred a washing machine rather than a dishwasher but that's a personal choice

Great property in a lovely location with easy access to all of the dales. Hosts very friendly and welcoming - the welcoming pack was outstanding (especially the homemade marmalade). Good off-road parking and very peaceful with a lovely garden to relax in. Pub around the corner provided good quality food well above the normal pub standard.
