Golconda is a charming old farm house that has been totally refurbished to an incredible standard, set in a group of similar cottages on this former farm. Behind its mellow stone walls, it has been interior designed, retaining stone flagged floors and oak doors but then adding lots of modern features. The lovely furniture and soft furnishings and the incredible use of colours and textures creates warm, calming and luxurious accommodation. The lounge has an amazing log burning stove, the dining kitchen is well fitted and the two en suite bedrooms with king size beds are beautifully presented.

Nearby Brassington is worth exploring. It’s a lovely village with a jumble of cottages across the hillside, great pubs and lovely walks through beautiful countryside. Carsington Water has water sports, cycle trails and birdwatching all just a ten-minute drive away. Close by historic Wirksworth is a super little town where you can explore its heritage trail and railway, range of local shops, pubs, restaurants and even a small cinema.

Set in the glorious Derbyshire Dales on the edge of the Peak District National Park, you must visit Matlock Bath with its cable cars and riverside prom and nearby Cromford Mill in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just up the Derwent Valley. Venture over towards Chesterfield and you will find amazing Hardwick Hall, Bolsover’s brilliant castle, Grassmoor’s Country Park and even Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest.

Lovely warm cosy cottage with beautiful decor. Set in a little enclave in a valley with walks from the doorstep. Everything has been thought of and generously kitted out. We visited during a cold spell in March and really appreciated the underfloor heating and wood burner. The beds are fabulous and have quality bed linen. The showers are good. EasyRead more to get to anywhere in the Peak District. Private parking outside the door. Logs outside the front door at a reasonable price. We couldnt have wished for more. Hide
