Snape is best known as the venue for the Aldeburgh Festival and for other events throughout the year held in the Maltings Concert Hall. However, the pretty village, at the head of the tidal estuary, is a popular holiday venue in its own right and central for exploring the unique area of the Suffolk Heritage Coast - the tidal estuary and network of footpaths are one of the most interesting areas of Suffolk for exploring on foot. There is easy access to the fascinating coastal town of Aldeburgh, plus castles and much more to explore at Framlingham and Orford. The burial treasures at Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge, should not be missed either.

I can't recommend Riverside Cottage enough - it is a lovely place to stay. It is very comfortable place, situated in a beautiful location with a lovely garden alongside the river just next to Snape Maltings. It is excellently positioned for trips to the seaside such as Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Southwold, as well as lovely walks in pretty much any dirRead moreection, in surroundings which are scenic and rich in wildlife. All amenities are catered for, including eg. fast broadband and a well appointed little kitchen. We have been fortunate enough to spend four summer holidays there, and am sure we will return again. A cosy, quirky house that's utterly charming inside and out - a wonderful, thankfully only part tamed, garden of sun and shade where you can lose yourself - perfect location by the Alde and the marshes, over from Snape Maltings

A beautiful old cottage with a traditional garden in a lovely location. The cottage has been sympathetically modernised including central heating and new kitchen and bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. In the smaller bedroom traffic noise from the nearby road can be heard. The main bedroom is lovely. There are many countryside walks from the Read morecottage door and the Maltings is a five minute walk away. The seaside resorts of Aldeburgh and Southwold are within easy reach. The Golden Key pub which is nearby does excellent food at reasonable prices. Hide

Fantastic location on the South Coast Path, though some traffic noise. Beautiful cottage garden and a real cottagey feel, including a staircase which might present a few problems for some.
