We booked this cottage as dog friendly it is definately not. As we entered the property we were met with a 'Dog Stopper' board on the stairs, with signs saying no dogs upstairs, on furniture and take shoes off before going upstairs. In the gatden down the side of the house was a dead bird, a barbecue which was way old rusty and way past it's tip dRead moreate. Cleanliness was really poor. We booked this cottage as a break from my chemotherapy, I was very concerned that I might pick up an infection from the shower as the shower head was filthy. We came back 2 days early as my husband had to sleep on the sofa near our dog on the floor as he wasn't allowed upstairs. Disgusted is not the word, for the money we paid I was appalled. Holiday Cottages: would like to thank you for your feedback, and we are sincerely sorry that your stay did not provide the restful break you needed during your medical recovery. To clarify our pet policy, our standard terms and conditions across all pet-friendly properties do restrict dogs from going upstairs or on furniture to maintain hygiene levels for all incoming guests. However, we take your comments regarding the property cleanliness, shower head, and barbecue very seriously and will address these issues immediately. Thank you again from the team at Holiday Cottages. Hide

This is a nice house, but it is not dog-friendly. It is barely dog tolerant. The timber dog-stopper contraption in the hall, presumably to deter a dog from going upstairs was off putting as we arrived. Then we saw a notice hung on the wall saying dogs are not allowed upstairs, This is not mentioned in the booking information, and if it had beenRead more we would not have booked this property. Our dog has severe separation anxiety, so this required one of us to sleep on the sofa while our dog slept on the floor nearby. There was a dog bed in the kitchen, but this is all we got for the 25 additional charge, though I did find a split pack of treats in a drawer when looking for a bin bag. Others have mentioned problems with the front door. It was so bad that one evening we found ourselves unable to get in, while all our belongings including car keys, were inside. Eventually we got the door open, and were then afraid to go out together in case it happened again. We bought a can of WD40 and lubricated the lock several times.. It was much better, but we should not have had to do this. The management company were good at returning our calls and did send someone to look at the door a day later. We are grateful to them, but it should not have been allowed to get so bad. The internet connection was unreliable, especially in the daytime. Holiday Cottages thanks you for your feedback. We are glad our management team responded quickly to your calls, and we have since fully serviced the front door lock and checked the internet connection. Our terms and conditions do state that pets are not permitted upstairs or on furniture to maintain cleanliness for all guests. We are sorry this policy caused difficulties for your dog's specific needs, and we appreciate your cooperation during your stay. We wish you and your dog all the best in your future travels. Hide

The cottage is spacious, warm & comfortable. But please be aware of the treacherous stairs. They are narrow with a turn towards the top & dangerous especially for the elderly & very young children.

Good location in a quiet area but near enough to all popular coastal resorts. We found car parking in general was quite expensive though. House and garden were easily big enough for our needs our dog loved the long garden for chasing after her ball!

The cottage was very well situated with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. It was very homely and a lot of thought has gone into the decor. The only thing if you have trouble with mobility the stairs are very narrow which fortunately wasnt a problem for us. Enjoyed the weekend very much.

We had a wonderful stay at Staithe Cottage over New Year! Location was great for the beach and local friendly pub, The West Norfolk. We were able to walk up to Hunstanton and drive to great beaches, Wells Next The Sea and Brancaster. The cottage was really well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen, and very comfy bedrooms and large bathRead moreroom. Garden was huge, would be great in the summer. Very cosy lounge with a plenty of sofa space. Excellent location, perfect for a family stay, they even provided a dog bed & bowl for the dog. Couldnt fault at all, would highly recommend.
