Winterton-on-Sea is a lovely east coast village with a glorious sandy beach, that remains as such whether the tide is in or out. Backed by dunes, which are part of the National Nature Reserve, this stretch of the coast also forms part of the Norfolk Coastal Path.  The area is truly delightful and gives you a real sense of being away from the hustle and bustle of life. Aside from the wonderful beach, the village has some good local facilities including a chippy, village store, tea room, beach café and pub.  Just up the coast is Horsey, which has a similar beach and a local seal colony; come over the winter months and you will see the seal pups too.  For cultural pursuits, the splendid city of Norwich is a short drive away, visit the two cathedrals, the Castle, The Lanes full of independent shops, and the marketplace in the city centre.  The Broads National Park is also within easy reach and offers 125 miles of waterways to explore.  Hire a boat, book a ride with the Canoe Man or just walk the nature trails, there is plenty to see here.  The east coast hinterland is flat and sits under wide open Norfolk skies, a cyclists’ dream. There are numerous gardens to visit in the area too, Somerleyton Hall & Gardens and East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens, to name but two and there are plenty of farm shops, showcasing local produce for you to enjoy.

Such a lovely cottage with a nice secure garden which Sammy our dog enjoyed. The cottage is very comfortable. We loved to sit in the conservatory for breakfast with the doors open to the garden. We have stayed here many times and have always been pleased with our choice. There have been a few changes in the cottage recently since it has been under new ownership which has made a huge difference and made the cottage even more cosy, comfortable and homely. The new owners really care about customer experience and want you to have the best stRead moreay possible. We have already booked again and will continue to stay here for a long time to come. The location is perfect! Its close to the Winterton dunes and beach and a short walk from the shop and pub. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable and is equipped with everything we need to have the best time. It was perfect for our 2 adventurous Labradors too who both had a smashing time. Thank you for making our times here so special by offering such an amazing property and caring so much about our experience. We look forward to being back soon. Hide

Lovely cottage. Impeccably clean and very well kitted out. We were only there for 2 days - but our family of four (plus two dogs) were very comfortable. Beach is super close-by, and some nice locals eateries in Poppys and The Fishermans Return pub. We had a great time

This is the first time we have booked a cottage without off street parking but the neighbours were very accommodating and left a space for us outside the cottage. The cottage was very clean and cosy. Perfect location away from the other more commercial towns (no caravans). Everything you could need within walking distance, including a brilliant (quiet) beach for dogs. Real Village feel. The cottage itself is also perfect for a family of 4/5 plus pets. Secure garden. Would recommend

Lovely cottage. We really enjoyed our stay here. The place is deceptively large, plenty of space for a family of four. Very clean and nicely decorated. All the beds were super comfy. Nice private garden - special thanks to the neighbours for throwing our ball back! Easy walk to the beach, local shop and pub.

We had a lovely week in Snowdrop cottage. It was really well equipped and we enjoyed staying there. The longer our week went on the more in love we fell with the house and the village. Centrally located in the village, close to the beach 5 mins (especially if taking the dunes) Road way was still not long, 10 mins walk max Would really recommenRead mored taking a visit to Horsey Gap beach for seeing the seals, it was amazing! Was great base to explore Norfolk and come back to the peaceful village away from the business of the more touristy towns. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely look at booking the cottage again in future. Cheryl is a lovely host who communicated great with us throughout the week over a couple of things. I would reiterate what other reviews have said about the stairs, for the elderly or young they can be quite steep and tricky, but the added benefit of the downstairs toilet is really handy. Hide
