Ivy Dene is a lovely, double-fronted cottage in the attractive village of Crich. With a lounge gathered around a log burning stove, fantastic kitchen, three bedrooms, two with zip and link beds, two bathrooms and a cloakroom, it is a superb holiday retreat.

Crich is a wonderful village full of local life. Set in the village square, the cottage is a short stroll to the village pubs, bakery, restaurants, local butchers, general store, post office, pharmacy and a popular fish and chip shop.  Just a short 10-minute drive away, you have Matlock and the beginnings of the Peak District or Belper and Cromford in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor.

There are lots of things to do around Crich, wandering the lovely footpaths, visiting the Crich Monument with views over five counties, exploring Wingfield Manor with its links to Mary Queen of Scots or even catching a 2d ride at the National Tramway Museum. But don’t forget the myriad of other visitor attractions that are close by like Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall, the Heights of Abraham cable cars, Castleton’s spooky caverns, the Derwent Valley dams and the Great British Car Journey is a must!

Another lovely stay in Crich at our favorite cottage - perfect location and lovely well equipped cottage. There was a problem with the new boiler when we arrived but the owner dealt with this swiftly.

Ivy Dene is a beautiful home within the heart of a lovely, friendly village. The owners have thought of everything you will need, even tongs for the toaster. We have never stayed anywhere that felt more like home, with the added luxury. The beds are super cosy and even though you are next to the road you don't hear a thing when you are inside. We had a lovely week at Ivy Dene. The house was 2 houses at one point and has been joined together but keeps the unused second front door, so is bigger than you'd expect. Lovely for family life with teens to have the extra sitting room and also 2 places to eat. Very comfortable, with everything you need (probably the most well equipped kitchen we'vRead moree ever found in a holiday cottages, including plastic cutlery and plates, and good, sharp kitchen knives - makes such a difference!). Crich rec is opposite the cottage with a play park and space to kick a ball, and we did some walks from Crich. Also recommend the Greyhound pub and Crawford Mill (the pub in Crich doesn't currently do evening meals). Nottingham Castle is great, lots of interactive displays and a play park (for under 12s). Fave walk, Lathkill Dale near Bakewell, absolutely stunning. A really comfortable and enjoyable week away, made by having such a pleasant base to return to. Loved sitting out in the pretty garden too. Hide
