Locally there are ancient castles and historic houses; Bodiam, Scotney and Sissinghurst as well as famous gardens including Great Dixter and Pashley Manor to visit. Hawkhurst is located on the border of Kent and East Sussex which makes it easy to visit a wide variety of villages and towns including historic Rye and Camber Sands and the Wealden town of Tenterden, home to the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway. There are a couple of golf courses locally and fishing lakes. The north Kent coast and Canterbury are all easily accessible by road or train.
