Walberswick is a former fishing village just across the harbour at Southwold – you can take the small ferry boat from Southwold across (summer season only) or there is the footbridge to use. Walberswick has surrounding heath and marshland which are protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walberswick is very popular with walkers, cyclists and families and is known for its annual crabbing competitions. Walberswick has attracted famous figures over the years with many famous celebrities maintaining homes in the village. The village has two pubs – The Anchor and The Bell Inn – the latter which inspired the creation of Adnams’ Ghost Ship Ale, a tearoom, art gallery and gift shop. There are some fantastic walks from Walberswick via the Suffolk Coast Path leading to the historical village of Dunwich. Other attractions nearby include the seaside town of Southwold, Blythburgh and RSPB Minsmere Reserve is just a short drive away.
