Little House is an amazing barn conversion set amongst a cluster of cottages in a peaceful little valley nestling in the rolling hills south of Matlock. As soon as you get there you will realize that this is a very special place. The open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen surround a central double-sided log burning stove. The vaulted bedroom with a quiet reading area and balcony looking out over the fields is incredible. The terrace, balcony and patio are ideal places to have a glass or two while admiring the stunning views.  

This is the perfect base from which to explore the numerous local attractions. The High Peak Trail is great for walkers and cyclists. Carsington Water with its water sports, cycle trails and birdwatching is just over the hill. The lovely historic town of Wirksworth with heritage railway, heritage trail, quirky Northern Lights little cinema and many a pub and restaurant is just ten minutes drive away. Belper's award-winning market town in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor is another must-see.

There are also lots of other Peak District attractions in the surrounding hills. Matlock Bath with its cable cars and riverside prom is not to be missed. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just up the Derwent Valley. Venture beyond famous Bakewell and you are in the real Peaks with sparkling rivers, picturesque villages, incredible views from the gritstone edges and country pubs galore.

INSIDE THE PROPERTY:

Living Room/Kitchen: a superb open plan space with sofa (a sofabed, if required, for alternative sleeping accommodation), dual-sided wood burning stove, Smart TV, DAB radio and WiFi, desk and chair; patio doors to the terrace; dining table and four chairs; well-fitted kitchen area with quality units, induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine.  

Shower Room: the ground floor shower room has a large walk-in shower enclosure, WC and basin.

Bedroom: A feature oak staircase leads up to an amazing, mezzanine vaulted bedroom with a king size bed, quiet reading area and patio doors to a balcony with furniture and incredible views.

 

OUTSIDE:

There is a private patio with garden furniture overlooking the lovely countryside views and a small patio garden to the side of the property. These are now both fully enclosed. One private parking space is available adjacent to the property.  

 

Bed linen and towels are provided.

Electric central heating, power and an initial basket of logs for the stove are included.

Smoking in the cottage is not permitted.

This is a beautiful property in a stunning location. The peace and quiet of the area means its the perfect place to switch off. The owner has thought of everything and the attention given to detail creates a home from home feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and our four legged friend was very disappointed to say goodbye!

The Little House was exactly what we needed, gorgeous location and the views over the farmland and beyond were beautiful. Our Labrador/Retriever Gem settled in immediately and appreciated her welcome gifts very much and also loved the fuss Valerie gave her. The house had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated with touches created by VRead morealerie. The bed was very comfortable. We also had a welcome tray with a variety of items which we also appreciated and enjoyed. Our stay exceeded all our expectations. The setting was idyllic, the owner was so kind and helpful. The welcome tray of goodies and the basket of dog treats was a lovely touch and so welcoming. The accommodation was so comfortable and well presented. We can't wait to visit again.

A really comfortable, well equipped property for both humans and dogs with amazing views across the fields, hills and woods. We met the owner who is lovely, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning.

If youre looking for somewhere quiet this is the place to stay. The house was very well equipped and finished to a high standard. The little touches like the welcoming pack were an added bonus. I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie as well, would definitely recommend.

Beautiful house in beautiful location. We enjoyed the little extra touches/treats, and Valerie was friendly and very happy to help with any requests if she could. Absolutely beautiful holiday home. It was absolutely spotless and lovely welcome gifts for ourselves and our dog, Bonnie. Such a great holiday spot with everything provided for both humans a dogs! The lovely starter pack was very welcome. The accommodation was spotless and very well maintained. Little House is an absolutely first class accommodation. The house was furnished to a very high standard and cannot be faulted in any way. We have been using holiday cottages now for almost 15 years and this accommodation ranks extremely highly. The unique selling point is the veranda. Looking out to the fields of cattle and the small wood makes Read morethis a stunning feature. We enjoyed sitting outside in the almost total silence and feeling the light breeze in the sunshine. Situated in lovely countryside not too far from Matlock Bath, I would thoroughly recommend this property. Also, Val the friendly owner left out some very nice edibles on arrival that were a nice touch. In summary, it has to be 10/10. Hide
