The village has two good pubs, a brilliant delicatessen, a smokehouse, art gallery, pottery, magnificent 14th Century church and an iconic windmill that is a landmark for this part of the coast and where you can dine in the evenings. Other lovely villages to explore along the coast are Blakeney and Morston, where you can take a visit from their harbours to see the local seal colony. For sandy beaches and miles of them, head to nearby Wells-next-the-Sea or Holkham, seat to the Earls of Leicester, which also has a deer park and an 18th Century Palladian mansion to visit.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Town Yard Cottage; it is well-equipped with so many home comforts. The owners are clearly very thoughtful in all they provide. It also has the exceptional benefit of parking and a sunny garden, whilst being in walking distance of the charming shops, restaurants and coast of Cley. Best yet!

This is not the first time we have stayed in this cottage, but since changing hands, has undergone an update of the bathroom which has improved the facilities. The staircase has always been a challenge due to shape etc, so not for the infirm.

Town Yard Cottage is a lovely place to stay for a holiday. Everything was clean and tidy, there was a very nice welcome pack waiting for us on our arrival and our dog settled in straight away. The lovely garden was very secure for her so we had no worries at all about her safety. There are 2 dog friendly pubs within easy walking distance and a goodRead more Coasthopper bus service which we used to go further along the coast and then walk back to Cley. We managed to do the whole coast in sections from Wells-next-the-sea to Sheringham in the week that we were there. Highly recommended. Hide
