Property code: OC-DS1029

This delightful Dales cottage is both quaint and quirky, having been tastefully furnished the cottage retains many traditional features with stone flagged floors throughout the ground floor, exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings.

Rose Cottage is both a warm and very comfortable cottage from which to explore the many delights, attractions and events of Wensleydale, Swaledale and further afield.

The living room in this lovely cottage has a feature fireplace with wood burning stove offering a warm and cosy retreat on those cold winter evenings. The beautiful sash windows give wonderful views of the river, fields, and countryside.

Hardraw is a charming village with an array of traditional dales cottages, a church, tearoom, a village pub, and holds regular sheep dog demonstrations throughout the summer. Within a few minutes’ walk you will find Hardraw Force, England’s largest single drop waterfall, reputed to be 100 ft and set in grounds behind the Green Dragon car park.

The cottage sits a mile from the market town of Hawes, home to the famous ‘Wallace & Gromit’ Wensleydale cheese with its working factory, museum, visitors' centre, and restaurant.

Hardraw is an excellent base for walking and cycling with many walks and cycle routes through the beautiful countryside.

Beautiful little cottage with views across the Dale. Perfect location beside the river. Lovely cottage in a great location, just a short walk (1 minute) to the village pub, which does reasonable food (though not very friendly and need to book). Cottage is a nice mix of old and new. Lovely modern bathrooms, good towels and linen, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, but slightly tricky stairs. Generous welcome pack with milk, tea, Read morebiscuits etc. Great wood burner, but bring your own logs/kindling as the logs provided only last a couple of nights. Lounge is a bit small and would be cramped with more than 2-3 adults. Heating and hot water worked well and good to have a washing machine - though a washer - dryer would be helpful. Very quiet and peaceful, next to small river and view to the rear across fields. Good value for money. As mentioned in comments to the owners, the exit onto the road from the steep drive is dangerous. Might be OK if two people and someone stands in the road, but as I was on my own I had to drive out blind. I ended up parking the car in the village and walking to and from the cottage, which was inconvenient. Other than that an excellent property and stay. I would definitely come again, especially if the drive issue is fixed. Hide

Beautiful cottage near a babbling brook and a short walk to the Green Dragon pub. Steep driveway was not a problem for us but you need a banksman to guide you onto the road as it's blind in both directions. Loved our stay and may return.

So quiet! Cosy, well equipped cottage in beautiful location. One we have admired from the bench across the river on many occasions.Walks and cycle rides from the door or for the less energetic, an assortment of birds visiting the garden, a pub a few yards away and Hardraw Force easily accessible. Rose Cottage was the best setting for a birthday weekend. There were beautiful views across the dales from both of the upstairs bedrooms, and from the living room. We were also lucky enough to get in for a last few pints at The Green Dragon on its last weekend under the same owners that its had for 20 years or so! Probably the cosiest and best equipped cottage we have stayed in. The kitchen is especially well equipped and is ideal for comfortable dining.
