Its comfortable lounge, hand crafted kitchen, attractive bedrooms and lovely bathroom make her a super cottage to return to after a hard day's holidaying in the Peak District.

The perfection of the cottage is only matched by its location in the sleepy little village of Foolow snuggled up under the dramatic Hucklow Edge. There are few more peaceful spots yet there is also a vast array of visitor attractions within easy reach. Castleton's caverns, the Derwent Valley Dams and wild Winnats Pass are all nearby. You might also fancy riding Peak Rail's steam trains or a tram at the National Tramway Museum between visits to Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell's famous market and Buxton's Victorian Crescent.

Great location with lovely pubs serving food close by. Echo previous comments re shower but wasnt a problem as we understood this was the set up prior to booking. Stairs v steep with awkward top step to navigate from double bedroom so not ideal if unsteady on your feet. Loved this little cottage, it was so warm and cosy - perfect to come back to after a days walking. Great location with short walks from the village or longer routes a few miles away. Always lots of hot water and very well equipped. Pub across the road serves excellent food. Had a great few days away here exploring the beautiful countryside.

Nice stay other than the shower (or lack of!). Don't understand why you would put in a brand new bathroom suite and only have a bath, with a shower head at waist height. Would only cost you a tiny bit of money to have someone move the shower head to head height and add a shower curtain rail. Just makes for an unpleasant experience sitting in the baRead moreth trying to rinse with a hand-held shower whilst not absolutely drenching the rest of the room. We wouldn't have booked this cottage had we realised in advance. Otherwise clean, spacious, well-equipped, nicely located opposite the pub. Would have benefitted from parking instructions when arriving in the dark. Hide

We really enjoyed our week in Dormy Cottage which is a warm and cosy small cottage in an excellent location for walking, visiting and exploring. The pub across the road, The Bulls Head Inn is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed an excellent well priced meal there on the Saturday when we arrived and very unexpectedly found ourselves enjoying a verRead morey well conducted quiz later in the week! We had an excellent curry delivered by the curry house recommended by the owners with a really good quality vegan selection and very reasonable price (much cheaper than Wiltshire prices). Much to our delight the Bulls Head also sold really good fresh bread from a local bakery as well as fresh eggs and cakes. We found the instructions for the TV /Netflix and wifi easy to follow and all the equipment worked well. Our cocker spaniel loved her stay in the Dormy and was made very welcome on each of our visits to the Bulls Head. She needed a shower every day it being an Autumn visit with long walks along the Derwent and in the Dales. She was able to jump in and out of the bath easily but we do agree with others who have commented that a walk in shower would be a great improvement were the property owners able to include this in future plans. Beds were very comfortable and good fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer as well as a coffee press which we happily used and a (huge!) coffee machine which we didnt use. Good quality wooden floors and flagstones were ideal for three walkers and a dog returning each day. We hope to make a further booking soon for a return visit to enable us to explore more of this beautiful and special area. Hide

The village of Foolow is beautiful, we really liked it. The location of the cottage was central to many places in the Derbyshire Dales so it suited us down to the ground. Excellent location in the heart of the Peak District. The single mattress in the small bedroom was a bit firm for my liking, the kitchen lacked a few essentials (like a seive) and there is no DVD player. Minor quibbles for what is otherwise a charming, clean, well appointed and reasonably priced holiday let.

The Dormy Cottage is in a lovely little village right near a fantastic pub and close to lots of lovely walks. It is a very cosy cottage with everything that you need. We even had milk and biscuits left for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The only slightly negative is the bathroom - the toilet is very cramped (if you have any mobility issues tRead morehis may be difficult) and the shower is a hand held one over the bath with no shower guard but there is plenty of hot water and the bath is big and comfortable so a perfect excuse to relax in a bath. Compact, lovely cottage right opposite a decent pub. Entrance straight off the street (no porch). Well-equipped, bright, clean kitchen with access to a small, private, enclosed courtyard out the back. The kitchen has a gas oven/hob, compact dishwasher, microwave, filter coffee machine, kettle, toaster, fridge, and all crockery, cutlery, utensils aRead morend cooking equipment. No recycling bins. Decent living room with comfy sofa and two armchairs. Smart Freeview TV [inc Netflix] and decent, reliable WiFi. Downstairs bathroom which is quite tight, the shower lacks a curtain and water goes everywhere, but it was clean and airy and there was plenty of almost instant hot water. Upstairs a lovely, roomy double bedroom at the front and a nice single second bed. We stayed in September and didn't need any heating, the temperature was lovely in the cottage. Reasonable price and excellent service and information from Original Cottages. Warmly recommended. Hide

The property is wonderfully located. The bedrooms are fairly large and the living room was Ok although putting a large 3 piece suite in it took up too much space. The kitchen was cramped although everything worked OK. A gas oven is a novelty which took som getting used to. The space outside is very small and a disappointment although I realise thaRead moret nothing can be done about that. The only bathroom and loo were downstairs and cramped because there is a large bath in it. Ok but the shower which had lots of pressure and hot water had no upper fixing. So had to be held by hand. There is no shower curtain so the room gets soaked. A walk in shower would be far better and in fact and upstairs toilet at least would be much better and there is room. It need a makeover. For us there seemed to be too many ornaments and artificial flowers. Notwithstanding all this we had a good time in a good village and basically a good cottage. Hide
