Pearson's But and Ben is an utterly wonderful holiday retreat, nestled in a picturesque valley on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It has been interior designed with superb attention to detail in its furnishings, decor, colours and textures - it just oozes quality throughout its spacious accommodation. With two en suite king size bedrooms, the property is ideal for two couples holidaying together but also welcomes families.

Surrounded by lovely countryside with fantastic views down the valley to the hills beyond, “Pearson’s” is converted from a former farm building, attached to but totally private from the adjacent farmhouse. At lambing time, there will be sheep and lambs in the barns to the rear. The cottage has a lovely rural setting yet the charming town of Wirksworth is just five minutes' drive away with its heritage trail and railway, range of local shops, pubs, restaurants and even a small cinema. The High Peak Trail, which is great for walkers and cyclists, passes close by and Carsington Water with its water sports, cycle trails and birdwatching is just over the hill.

There are also lots of other Peak District attractions in the surrounding hills. Matlock Bath with its cable cars and riverside prom is not to be missed. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just up the Derwent Valley. Venture beyond famous Bakewell and you are in the real Peaks with sparkling rivers, picturesque villages, incredible views from the grit stone edges and country pubs galore.

We loved this quality holiday property. Fabulous views, spotlessly clean. Beautifully equipped. We used the lovely wood burning stove as it was a very chilly June week. Often used the outside table and really enjoyed the light dining area. Very generous with what was provided, loads of dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls etc. Very quiet, but easy to tRead moreravel anywhere. We did some wonderful walking and loved Haddon Hall and Chatsworth. Would highly recommend. Hide

Very cosy and well-appointed cottage. Beautiful location with stunning views. Did lots of walking directly from cottage, following off-road footpaths and disused rail pathways (High peak trail). Excellent position to explore Matlock, Bakewell, Chatsworth House and is very close to Carsington Water.

Lovely cottage, beautiful views, excellent beds, outside area ideal, and a beautifully styled home. The view is bucolic and ever changing. Many pictures of sunsets and sheep taken. Enjoyed the bountiful stars on the clear nights. Track needs to be navigated with care. Very friendly, approachable and prompt attention when minor issue occurred.

Beautiful cottage with stunning views of the countryside. Good access to lots of public footpaths direct from the farm. Access up a steep, lengthy track from the road a few miles from the villages of Middleton, Cromford and Wirksworth. Kitchen was well equipped and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Lovely, cosy cottage with beautiful views over the valley. Peace and quiet reigned and we especially enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in the dining area. It is a good centre for visiting the Peak District and the local village of Wirksworth is worth a visit for it's French Bistro, Le Mistral.

Very nice cottage, tastefully interior designed, lovely thick curtains and comfortable throughout. The artworks and pieces of pottery were super. Comfy King-size beds, good quality bedding and nice fluffy towels. The kitchen was well equipped.

This is a stunning property. Perfect for a quiet retreat, lots of books and games are provided and the view of the valley is spectacular.. very quiet scenery and a great stepping off point for the peak district. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. We had a great time and will likely be back again.

Overall, the cottage is lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable, and the shower wonderful. The current seating arrangements in the lounge do not fully meet the needs of two couples - there is only one 2 seater sofa, and a couple of individual chairs. The area adjacent to the kitchen is great for meals.

Where do I start!? A gorgeous rustic stone cottage with modern and traditional elements set in picturesque surroundings. The tad bumpy uphill drive to the cottage next to fields dotted with sheep adds to the fun and laughter. Everything from the crockery, to the cookware, the furniture, fixtures, gorgeous hardwood floors, the bedding and mattressesRead more were of extremely high quality. The mattresses were zero gravity of clouds of fluffy softness Hide

A little piece of heaven. It was wonderful to arrive at the cottage, unlock the door and walk through to an immaculately presented space for us to be staying in. We loved the kitchen and dining area/conservatory. The beds were so comfortable and the bed linen very soft. We sat outside and listened to the silence. We enjoyed the Italian restauranRead moret in Wirksworth. And we spent a whole day at Chatsworth House which took all day to see as much as we could. We won't come back because we have so many other places to explore, but we will remember the day we arrived. It did not disappoint and we have recommended the cottage to our friends. Hide
