We arrived at Higher Treliver and Piggery on Friday 10th July and, while the property itself was spacious, comfy, and well equipped, our stay was significantly impacted by repeated water problems. On Saturday, after returning from the beach, we found the house had no running water which lasted five hours. With 8 adults, 2 dogs, and a 3yearold, thisRead more caused major disruption. I contacted Holiday Cottages at 2:30pm and again at 3:30pm when Id heard nothing! The only explanation given on both calls was that the water comes from a UV borehole that needs charging, and even Holiday Cottages couldnt reach the owners. Although it was eventually fixed, it completely derailed our Saturday afternoon and evening, and the pressure afterwards was worse than before. We had only cold water in the downstairs bathroom the following day. The last engineer who turned up told us that they had previously reported issues with the water system, which clearly have not been addressed. By Thursday, the pressure dropped again and the downstairs shower went cold once more, leaving us dealing with water issues twice in one week. At no point did Holiday Cottages or the owners call back to check on us or even apologise for the inconvenience and disruption to our holiday. The garden is described as enclosed, but unless you have a very large dog, it isnt secure enough to let dogs off the lead dogs can easily get onto the road or into the neighbouring cow field, whilst there is a wooden fence around the perimeter; the gaps are significant enough that dogs could easily reach the road or cow field. Even the most obedient dogs would struggle not to want to explore the full area. The property is listed as dogfriendly, yet the house rules werent shared before arrival. While no pets upstairs is understandable, the rule requiring an adult to stay with the dogs at all times is unrealistic for a holiday, especially during a heatwave when many activities werent safe for dogs. More practical guidance about leaving dogs for short periods would make far more sense. The piggery accommodation was quaint, but shades are needed for the Velux windows, and both the downstairs and piggery bathrooms would benefit from frosted or privacy glass. Overall, despite the propertys comfort and space, the water failures, unclear dog rules, and insecure garden had a major impact on our experience and made the stay far less relaxing than expected. Ive answered yes to the question of whether I would recommend the property to a friend and that was a tough decision because as much as I would recommend the property, I would have to make all the downsides very clear to anyone I suggested this to as I would hate for anyone to have to experience what we had. The property was the perfect place for our four adult children and their partners. Spacious and stylish with plenty of parking for 5 cars. The piggery was a delightful annex, although there are no coverings on the skylights so we woke up to beautiful daylight in the room. If you are bothered by this you might want an eye mask. The hot tub takes a wRead morehile to heat up but was absolutely worth it! There is a lovely sun trap outside the dining room and the enclosed garden was a wonderful safe space for our dog. Hide
