Stay in a three-bedroom cottage with original features, that’s steeped in history and found in the scenic village of Boscastle. The quayside, less than a mile from the doorstep, remains largely untouched since its inception in the Elizabethan era, retaining an old-world charm — here you’ll find the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, quaint little shops and the village’s visitor centre. Take a drive 3.5 miles south along the coast to reach Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur, 12 miles to Port Isaac, famed as the location for the Doc Martin TV series, or 12 miles north to Widemouth Bay, for surf lessons, watersports hire and bathing opportunities.

The cottage’s main entrance leads onto the sea-view lounge, separated into two seating areas, one with a large wood burner, TV and bookcases, the other with an attractive fireplace — both with contemporary style Chesterfield sofas, armchairs and on-trend decorative items. A WC is also found on the ground floor. The kitchen/dining room with its painted beamed ceiling is located on the lower ground floor. Take the open staircase up to the first floor and you'll find two double bedrooms with ornamental fireplaces, a bedroom with a bunk bed and a family bathroom, are situated on the first floor. Like the lounge, the first double bedroom enjoys sea views.

To the rear, a patio enclosed by a traditional-style stone wall and wrought iron gate provides a private space for al fresco relaxation.

Fantastic house for 6 people. Lots of stairs to manoeuvre but as long as you know that in advance, all is well. Very comfortable beds and sofas. House is at the very top of the town. Fine to walk back up if you are ok with walking. Not for those who struggle with walking up steep hills or with mobility problems. Really lovely stay and a great Read morefind! Hide

We enjoyed our stay in Boscastle which we have visited many times before though not in recent years. Hartland Cottage is a lovely cosy period cottage, quite quirky with the layout being over three floors. The parking space directly outside the cottage was a big plus, as parking is otherwise very limited in this part of Boscastle due to the very narRead morerow lanes. There were a few minor issues which were fed back to the owner which would have made it 5 stars instead of 4. Hide
