This neatly furnished and comfortable single-storey property is set on a hill farm within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is surrounded by wildlife and the cottage would suit a small family, or be a haven for a group keen to explore Weardale on foot. Myriad mapped walks and trails for mountain bikers start from the front door, while the same can be found at Hamsterley Forest (9.5 miles). Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy casting their rods along a private 0.25-mile stretch of the River Wear (250 metres).

Take the four steps up to the entrance of this property. Inside, the spacious lounge comprises comfortable seating, a TV and a piano, with plenty of light pouring in through the French doors leading out onto the patio. An open-plan kitchen/diner allows you to enjoy sociable mealtimes, while a utility room is on hand for airing clothes. The cottage’s king-size bedroom is home to an en-suite shower room which links to the utility room via Jack and Jill doors, while two further bedrooms – a double and a twin – offer ample space. The games room, complete with a PS3 and table football, will be perfect for teenagers and children. There is also a family bathroom.

Outside, a large and enclosed lawned garden has pretty, flowering borders and features a patio with garden furniture, the perfect place to snuggle up and observe the Milky Way on a clear night.

Lovely location wonderful views all around us out of every window. Very peaceful even though close to a working farm and lambs born in paddock in front of kitchen window very idyllic. Cottage was warm and cosy. Will certainly come again.

A reasonable cottage that suited our purposes but that needs some effort made in maintenance and providing sufficient glasses and crockery for 6 people. The front room is set as a games area, this would be great for teenagers, but for us this was a real waste of space. Reply from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review.
