The ‘Narrows’ is a Grade II Listed Purbeck stone cottage dating back to the 18th Century and is located in one of the oldest parts of Swanage about 500 metres from the town centre and a similar distance from the picturesque Mill Pond and Parish Church. The cottage is of historic interest and was mentioned in William Masterman Hardy’s book on old Swanage.The High Street between the Town Hall and Townsend Road which was known as The Narrows after German bombing on the 17th August 1942 and the cottage was named after this.Today ‘The Narrows’ offers characterful accommodation with an exceptionally spacious living room with part vaulted ceiling, Purbeck stone fireplaces and flagstone flooring. 
The garden floor has the original coffers from when this was the scullery together with the Purbeck stone wall and fireplace used at that time.

A perfect location for exploring the wonderful local area, the property is a 5 minute walk away from the sandy beach and town centre.  The benefit of having a local shop within a 2 min walk and a local pub which serves wonderful food also 2 min walk away. 

Swanage is a traditional Victorian seaside town, with a long stretch of sandy beach and a mix of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy during your stay. You can't take a trip to Dorset without visiting the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, which can be appreciated from many coastal paths. Further afield take time to wander round the local villages - Corfe Castle and Worth Matravers make for great picnic spots.

Walking into the property on this level you will find the kitchen and breakfast room, there are stairs off from this area leading up to the next floor where there is a bedroom and the main bathroom.  Taking a couple of steps down from the breakfast room, also located on the ground floor there is the living room with woodburner and dining table and chairs.  There are a further set of stairs leading down off the lounge to the lower ground floor where you will find two further bedrooms and a shower room.

Bedrooms: Lower ground floor: 1)  Double bed with woodburner effect heater and flagstone flooring. 2) Double bed with woodburner effect heater, flagstone floor, original copper and purbeck stone wall.  First Floor: 3) Double bed with stripped wood flooring.

Bathrooms: Lower ground floor: Shower cubicle, basin, W.C.  First Floor: Roll top claw foot bath with shower attachment, W.C. Basin, stipped wooden flooring.

Kitchen: Traditional kitchen with electric oven & hob, dishwasher (slimline), washing machine, microwave, fridge, two high breakfast stools.

Breakfast Room: With green velvet settee, TV and books, antique cast iron table with two chairs in front of the window.

Living/Dining Room: Two 3 seater sofas, wood burning stove, TV,  original vaulted beamed ceiling, dining table seating up to 6.

Garden: Enclosed garden with raised seating area with furniture looking out over the garden and to the Downs.  Please note there are many steps in the garden on different levels.

Linen and towels provided: please bring your own beach towels.

The cottage was clean and comfortable with a layout which suited is well. It was conveniently situated for the amenities in Swanage.

Fabulous large cottage, with a beautiful garden. Absolutely perfect for two dogs. Two lovely pubs just over the road and two mins walk down into town & the beach. Couldn't ask for more.

A beautiful, well equipped cottage, full of history and character. The log burner is great, really homely. The cottage is very spacious and there are plenty of mugs, plates, cutlery etc in the kitchen. We really appreciated the welcome biscuits and all the thoughtful touches. Perfect location to explore the coast. The house has a really good amount of space and perfectly located in the town. Helpful instructions from the owners makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the property.

A beautiful grade 1 listed property which had so much character and was located within a few minutes walk of the seafront, station and a huge variety of shops, convenience stores, restaurants and takeaways. There was always ample on street parking so the lack of private parking was not an issue whatsoever. This is a lovely cottage with 3 good size bedrooms and a great lounge and garden.The bathrooms too are a good size, the kitchen is small but well equipped. The location is excellent - 5 minutes to the sea and shops.
