Masham is a great place to visit, and the cottage is ideally placed for exploring the small town and surrounding areas; great for walks with the dog, checking out the local attractions, or enjoying the pubs/cafes/shops. We were lucky to get parked across the road, otherwise parking is in the nearby market square. The back garden is fully enclosed, Read moreand has a seating area and activities for families. The rear entrance leads to a good size kitchen and dining room, with everything you could need; however, the kitchen needed a clean. Next floor up are 2 living rooms, a bedroom, and the front door. Next floor has more bedrooms; with one being ensuite, and a family bathroom. From here, more stairs lead to a dormer, but we didn't going up there after having a look. The living rooms and bedrooms are comfortable and have everything you could want, including a straightforward control outside the living rooms for the heating. We only used the lounge at the back as it was away from the road. Whilst the central location is very convenient, the road must be quite uneven as when a HGV went past, it felt like the house was rumbling. This wasn't frequent, but happened several times a day, starting quite early. Nothing the owners can do about it, but it's there. Other than that, this is a great property in a great location. Hide

We had a great week in Masham despite the very cold patch. The house was lovely and toasty to come back to after our daily outings. It is a house in a great situation (apart from the lorries and we know this is going to change). We could easily explore all the places we wanted to visit in N Yorkshire. It was also very handy to have several pubs cloRead morese by so we didnt need to drive. The owners were so helpful prior to our visit and very accommodating during our stay there. It was a lovely visit. Hide

Scarbeck House was excellent for our week in Masham. We used it as a base for many very good walks in the local area and never used our car. It is very well equipped with loads of good crockery and cutlery and a very well equipped kitchen with lots of worktop space. The beds were all comfortable although the room at the top of the house was a littRead morele cold and not very spacious but would be ideal for children in warmer months. The road outside was quite busy and large lorries seemed to start passing from around 5am (weekdays) and went on for most of the day, but there is not much that can be done about that. The owner phoned a few days before we arrived and was very helpful and friendly. All five of us in the group, agreed it was an excellent place to stay and it's very likely we will be back again, either in the same group or with our families. I would have no hesitation in recommending Scarbeck House. Hide
