Old Post Office Cottage is a quintessential countryside cottage set in the attractive valley landscape of the River Tas, just 5 miles south of Norwich and less than half an hour to The Broads, where there is an opportunity to sail in the owners’ yacht Jessica, with the captain himself!  Keen walkers and dog owners are very fortunate in as much as Shotesham has a large number of footpaths, that lead from the famous Boudicca Way nearby, and are easily accessible from the cottage. The Globe pub is within walking distance and two award-winning eateries, The Wildebeest and The Mill are in the next village.  The area is also a cyclists’ haven with quiet country lanes to explore that quickly take you away from the madding crowd.

As you would expect from its name, the cottage is at the heart of the village with a lovely view of the church opposite.  It is full of character and seamlessly combines the old with the new.  One of the joys of the cottage is the pretty, walled garden with its own firepit and barbeque, and just the place to unwind, relax and stargaze come nightfall.  Perfect for a family or friends holiday, the cottage offers the best of both worlds – total rural relaxation on the doorstep, with the buzz of the City nearby if needed.  Shop: 3 miles Pub: within walking distance

The cottage homeowner, subject to his availability is always happy to take paying guests staying at the families holiday home for a days skippered sailing and picnic plus a sensible amount of wine or beer or both!! Max Carding keeps his classic Broads sailing yacht 'Jessica' moored at South Walsham (about 20 minutes drive from the cottage) and can accommodate up to four people.

Sailing aboard Max's beautifully restored yacht, even if you are not a sailor is the perfect way to enjoy and explore the enchanting beauty of The Broads. You will also see many examples of Norfolk's bird life and perhaps even the occasional Otter. If you sail why not take the helm (if you are brave enough) and experience the challenges and foibles of river sailing!?

Staying in the Old Post Office was a delight. What a refreshing change, when so many holiday cottages are essentially indistitnguishable from bland chain hotels, to stay somehwere so completely individual. It was like being allowed to stay in a friend's house while they were away for a week. The cottage has been beautifully restored and the villageRead more, Shotesham, is as idyllic an English village as you could find - the sort of place that you don't believe can still exist. Highly recommended. Hide

The cottage and location were both idyllic. However, the roads to get there were very narrow and scary! Drivers in these parts are impatient and rude. Beware Norwich Park and Ride sites. Our car was hit by an anonymous driver while we were in the city and no cctv. Now have expensive repairs.

Access to wifi is good and essential as we had no phone signal. Walled garden is good for dogs (no escape exits) as well as humans

Our stay at the cottage was truly delightful! The accommodation was immaculate and exuded a cozy ambiance. We were particularly impressed with its dog-friendly nature, which allowed our furry companion to join us for the adventure. Our family had an unforgettable time, creating memories that we will cherish forever.

Thank you for a delightful stay in the cottage. Our family treated us coinciding with our 60th Wedding anniversary, we even had a card from King Charles and queen Camilla addressed to the cottage. A lovely trip on the Broads and a warm welcome at St Mary's church, the only thing we missed is the good old Norfolk accent.

Thank you for a lovely stay. The cottage is beautiful, we loved it. We had an amazing holiday. We especially enjoyed our boat trip on the Broads, canoeing near Dillhem House, Pleasurewood Hills, Banham Zoo, Bewilderwood and our beach day at Holkham.
