Old Post Office Cottage is a quintessential countryside cottage set in the attractive valley landscape of the River Tas, just 5 miles south of Norwich and less than half an hour to The Broads, where there is an opportunity to sail in the owners’ yacht Jessica, with the captain himself! Keen walkers and dog owners are very fortunate in as much as Shotesham has a large number of footpaths, that lead from the famous Boudicca Way nearby, and are easily accessible from the cottage. The Globe pub is within walking distance and two award-winning eateries, The Wildebeest and The Mill are in the next village. The area is also a cyclists’ haven with quiet country lanes to explore that quickly take you away from the madding crowd.
As you would expect from its name, the cottage is at the heart of the village with a lovely view of the church opposite. It is full of character and seamlessly combines the old with the new. The cottage homeowner, subject to his availability is always happy to take paying guests staying at the families holiday home for a days skippered sailing and picnic plus a sensible amount of wine or beer or both!! Max Carding keeps his classic Broads sailing yacht 'Jessica' moored at South Walsham (about 20 minutes drive from the cottage) and can accommodate up to four people.
Sailing aboard Max's beautifully restored yacht, even if you are not a sailor is the perfect way to enjoy and explore the enchanting beauty of The Broads. You will also see many examples of Norfolk's bird life and perhaps even the occasional Otter. If you sail why not take the helm (if you are brave enough) and experience the challenges and foibles of river sailing!?
If you need further inspiration to find a character filled and a memorable staycation, how about checking out the owners other property in Dorset called Raleighs WY490.
