Royal North Devon Golf Club can rightly claim to be the cradle of English Golf. Founded in 1864, it is the oldest golf course in the country and is regarded as the St Andrews of the South. The golf course is as tough as any of the UK’s more famous links layouts and has recently been placed in Golf World's "Top 100 Courses in the World" that a golfer “must play”.

The two tastefully decorated bedrooms are on the ground floor, both with ensuite shower rooms and the master bedroom with access to the patio area with table and chairs and hot tub. Carpeted stairs lead up to the open plan kitchen/dining/living area with distant sea views across the Northam Burrows. The kitchen is beautifully designed to make the most of the space and is very well-equipped with everything you’ll need to rustle up a delicious evening meal to enjoy on the balcony. The living area has two comfy sofas positioned to enjoy the large 49" Smart TV complete with sound bar and leads out to the balcony area with table and chairs, an ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee or to watch the sunset over the Burrows.

Situated a short walk from the picturesque seaside village of Westward Ho!, which has everything you need for a great family holiday, with a range of food outlets catering for all tastes (and some award-winning cakes!) and seaside shops to explore. The beach offers lots of free entertainment for children whether it is looking in the rock pools, playing in the surf, building sand castles or flying kites there is plenty for all to enjoy. Dates 30/4-7/5/26 We had a great holiday at Idle hour. Shame about the weather but no one can control that. Everything we needed was there and more. It was spotlessly clean. The hot tub was wonderful. However, There were no red marks on the handles for opening the lid of the tub as mentioned multiple times in the info, but we worked it out Read moreanyway. Hide

An excellent base to explore North Devon and in our case to catch up with family and friends. We enjoyed the sun sets at night from the lounge while the hot tub was well received by my son and partner. Our dog Molly was very settled the whole week as a very quiet area and lovely walks. Im sure we will return !

We stayed at the Idle Hour as 2 couples for a couple of nights. Great location, good private parking for 2 cars, spotlessly clean, well equiped, very warm, beautifully decorated. Lovely to have the hot tub. It was perfect for our getaway. Would definitely book again

Beautiful house, clean, modern and fresh. Decorated lovely, and had everything needed in the kitchen and outside clothes line super useful after a dip on the wonderful hot tub. Loved being out on the balcony listening to the sea and seeing the waves from the sofa. We had a lovely stay :)

Idle Hour is an amazing place to stay, just a 10 minute walk from Westwood Ho! The house is really carefully thought out with everything you need from a holiday rental and more! The beds and sofas are super comfy for relaxing after a day exploring the amazing things North Devon has to offer. The kitchen is well equipped with high spa appliances Read morefor cooking up a storm. The garden is secure if you have a fur baby and the hot tub is perfect after a busy day of doing nothing. The property backs on to a main road, so can be a little noisy if the rear windows are open but we left them closed and used the side window and the doors out to the balcony :-). Would definitely stay again Hide

Very clean. Large upstairs living/kitchen area. Bedrooms snug but with excellent showers. Would suggest not great for dog as rear "garden" is fully paved patio. Probably better in summer when pre-bed walk would be in daylight!
