Property code: OC-BOW151

For a peaceful holiday in idyllic countryside this beautifully converted stone barn ticks all the boxes. Surrounded by 600 acres of farmland, the property sits in the heart of the Berwyn Mountains over looking the River Ceiriog. Semi-detached, alongside Ysgubor y Berwyn (BOW152), the two properties can be booked together, to accommodate two families, friends or larger parties.

Ystably y Berwyn is thoughtfully decorated and retains many of the buildings original features such as oak beams and double height ceilings. The barn is comfortable and spacious with generous sized bedrooms and a cosy lounge with wood burner. The kitchen opens out through patio doors to a private terrace and is well equipped for preparing meals while socialising with family and friends. On the terrace you can enjoy a relaxing dip in the hot tub while taking in views over the valley. There are many scenic walks and mountain bike routes from the door and wildlife is everywhere, Lloyd George once described the area as 'a little bit of heaven on Earth'.

The Berwyn Mountains are beautiful, unspoilt and in a relatively unknown area situated in the north-east region of Wales with many walking opportunities. The local village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog has two inns, The Hand and The West Arms, both serving good food. Other attractions in the area include Pistyll Rhaeadr (9 miles), Llangollen (15 miles) and Bala (27 miles).

We staying in the Ystabl property that was one of two connected in a fantastically transformed barn. We are a family of five and there was more than enough room for us to sleep, eat and hand out. I found the kitchen to be really well equipped including the all important cafetiere. Several dishwasher tablets were provided so we bought some more aRead mores well as washing powder for the washing machine. The beds and the sofas were all very comfortable. The family who run the farm were lovely and it was an honour to see a glimpse into their farming lifestyle. They were very helpful when we had any questions even about some of the history of the area. We did a short walk up the hill on the farm which gave us a stunning view of the surrounding hills and amused me as I taught my kids how to avoid cow pats in the grass. The hot tub was a great addition and was enhanced by the relaxing sounds of the stream a few feet away and watching the butterflies in the garden and the house martins feeding the babies in the nest. We had a great time. Hide

It's a very welcoming. cottage.secluded. Top spot for walking and afterwards a hottub as a reward. Llangollen is a very nice spot to go to as renting some bikes around Bala lake. If you want a true relaxing experience rent a narrow boat for example in llangollen. Chester is only an hour away were you can breeze history on each corner of the placeRead more. Hide

Booked the cottage for a family birthday weekend away. The cottage is in a fantastic remote location with stunning views and a stream running past, which you can see when out on the patio. The BBQ and hot tub are great extras too. Would highly recommend! I would just add that the cottage isn't suitable for people with limited mobility due to large Read moresteps into the property and steps down to the bedrooms and bathroom. Hide

The cottage was lovely, spacious. The sofa etc was well worn and hard to get out of . The showers were hot and powerful. The hot tub was a good size. Apart from little niggles I would stay again in a heartbeat. I've been home 3 days and miss being there.
