First Floor:

Garden: Small patio next to the parking area.
Parking: Private off-road parking for 2 cars. Please be aware that the garage is not part of The Retreat, please park considerately.

Notes: This is a non smoking property. There is a small step between the kitchen and the living area. 

The lovely Georgian town of Holt has a charm and character all of its own and boasts a selection of interesting shops, including many antique shops, as well as good restaurants, pubs and tea rooms. On the edge of the town the Green Flag awarded Holt Country Park has over 100 acres of woodland to discover with many organised events and there is also excellent bird watching in the area. The coastal villages of Blakeney and Cley are just five miles away and the sandy beach at Sheringham is just six miles.

Really quite disappointed by this property. It's advertised as 4 star, but the downstairs is not adequate for 6 people. The sofa is the most uncomfortable one we have ever sat on as it's way too hard and again too small for the number of people staying (5). We also had to keep moving the sofa around to accommodate the table and benches when eating.Read more No Dishwasher and only 6 decent sized cups provided! 4 clothes hangers per wardrobe. I will say the location is good if you don't want to drive to get to the shops, but getting in and out with 2 compact SUV's was a nightmare. There's just enough space to turn around one car with no other car parked there, so you would need to exit one car from the parking space before you could turn the other one around. Upstairs was better as it's more spacious with 3 en-suite bedrooms, but the heating wasn't working in the twin bedroom and a fan heater had been placed in the wardrobe instead. Fabulous place with lots of space inside. We found it ideally situated in the village and lovely and quiet. Everything that you would need equipment wise was provided. The house was very clean and tidy too.

The cottage is ideally situated in Holt with all amenities on your doorstep. We have stayed several times now and will certainly be back.

Nice well equipped accommodation. In the centre of Holt. Most things are within a few minutes walking distance. This was our second year at the Retreat, we could be back next year.

Very handy location for North Norfolk. Lovely comfy bedrooms but downstairs isnt very spacious. Uncomfortable seating and be careful where you park as it is used by local tradespeople.

Excellent location with sufficient parking for two cars. En-suite facilities to each bedroom was good. Sufficient lounge seating for four people but insufficient if more adult residents.

Great Location in the middle of Holt with everything in easy reach. 2/3 parking spaces is a bonus when parking is at a premium. Great local shops and eateries at all levels. Great for a break in the town but not sure I would choose it as a base to explore North Norfolk.k.

This is not a 4 star gold property. We were told before arriving that the front door was tricky and it certainly was to get open from both inside and out. We were also informed at the last minute that we would be unable to use one of the sinks in the en-suites as it had cracked and it was not going to be repaired during our stay. The shower in thiRead mores bathroom was dirty, skirting boards around the house were dusty and there were a lot of scuff marks on the walls. The mattress on the double bed dips in the middle which made it uncomfortable and there were no coat hangers in the wardrobe. We also had issues relating to the heating in the end en-suite and bedroom, As five adults in this property we found downstairs cramped and the seating uncomfortable and inadequate. This property is in and excellent location and is generous in size. The parking is tight but totally doable. The kitchen is large but no dishwasher and lots of empty space. Be aware they say there is an alarm but there is not. The fridge freezer is a good size. The sofa is extremely uncomfortable and does not easily fit 6 people. If you were stRead moreuck inside due to rain this would be a problem. The outside space would have been amazing but there is no furniture or BBQ, and the neighbours complained about the noise of us moving our cars around. So letting a child play outside probably wouldnt have gone down well. If you dont know the area there is local info booklet with this property. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and we found this one lacking in personality. Hide

The cottage is very well situated in the town and for the area generally. Unfortunately we couldn't get the alarm to work. We felt that he individual thermostats in the the rooms needed some instructions on how to adjust them. Please amend the instructions for finding the property. Larking Gowan appear to have moved some considerable time ago.

Really nice property. Very modern furniture and fittings throughout. The only thing missing from the kitchen was a dishwasher although that didnt bother us as we dont have one at home. We all slept well. The arrival instructions were missing so we had trouble with the heating system. Every room has its own thermostat but several radiators were turnRead moreed off at the valve. Didnt like the tight parking arrangement. Excellent location. Very near the High Street with plenty of shops and restaurants. We had trouble contacting the support number. Location is superb for the local area, Holt has everything you need with good access to local beaches. The house is very modern, well finished and equipped,and would book again . EV charging was really useful

Very well appointed, someone has spent a lot of money on this property. Designer radiators with mirrors, thermostats in all the bedroom, our shower had 5 heads, pop up USB ports in the kitchen worktop, etc. Parking is at a premium, but it is in the centre of Holt, so most things are a short walk.
