Property code: OC-K20665

Delightful granite property perched above Lamorna Cove, with uninterrupted panoramic views of the nearby sea and the distant Lizard Peninsula, set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nestled by the South West coast path between the little cove and beach of Lamorna and the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole. Positioned at the end of a long and narrow gravel track in the hamlet of Kemyel Wartha (which may not be suitable for wide or low suspension cars) with complete absence of pollution from noise or light, the night sky on a clear evening is spectacular. Lamorna still has a strong artistic vibe, having links to the Newlyn Art School dating back from the early 20th Century. It has a pub and seasonal beach café and is a nice quiet place to swim or dive. Head to the Art Deco Geo-thermal Jubilee Pool in Penzance (4 miles), Porthcurno (6.5 miles) renowned for its golden sands and open-air Minack theatre carved into the granite clifftop or the fascinating Museum of Global Communications.

Enter into the hallway of this welcoming retreat and hang your coats, taking a moment to admire the traditional Cornish slate flooring. Step into the welcoming living area, flooded with light from the dual-aspect windows with views across farmland towards the sea. The spacious, white-walled interior is beautifully furnished, enhanced by art and photography with a Cornish landscape theme. Relax on comfortable sofas, enjoy the warmth of the wood burner which sits in a magnificent granite chimney breast, and enjoy meals together around the wooden dining table in the sleek, well equipped kitchen/diner. A separate utility room housing a WC completes the ground floor. Upstairs, you’ll find the large family bathroom and three charming bedrooms: two king-size, boasting further sea views, one with an en-suite bathroom, and a twin.

Step outside the hallway into the enclosed, private front garden with a glorious, uninterrupted view across fields to the sea. The garden has a granite table and benches, perfect for outdoor drinks and al fresco dining, while an enclosed paddock lies beyond. The grounds are private and secure, being surrounded by a granite wall and gate, within this is a gravelled area providing ample parking.

This cottage is spacious with wonderful views, especially from upstairs. It is well presented - the walls appear newly painted, the carpets are immaculate and look new too. It looks well looked after generally. The beds are large and comfortable, with a choice of pillows. The heating works well, so there's a welcoming feel - plus the owner providesRead more a lovely selection of scones, jam and clotted cream as a welcome pack - which is generous and kind. The kitchen is well-equipped with kitchen utensils and items - toaster, fridge, freezer, oven, hob, microwave - and there's a folder detailing how to use everything. There's another folder giving useful visitor information about the area. The walls in every room are decorated with very varied modern art, much of it original and reflecting of the local area. The seating area outside is pristine and the views are uninterrupted of the sea and the surrounding countryside. There is a small library of interesting books, some games, and even a guitar (although this is missing a string). The surroundings are super quiet (there is no passing traffic because the house is set at the end of a long winding lane) and at night you can see across Mount Bay as far as The Lizard lighthouse. There was a moon when we were there, but this is a rare dark sky area and so without a moon the stars should be impressive on a clear night, especially in winter after rain. Usefully for walkers, there are footpaths in various directions leading to varied walks to Lamorna Cove and Mousehole along the coast path, as well as to the Merry Maiden standing stones. Hide

The house is a good size family home with all you could need. We stay in Cornwall often and this part is our favourite. You can walk to Mousehole one way and to Lamorna the other. Dont miss Logans Rock, Pedne Vounder, Porth Curno or Porth Chapel the best beaches anywhere. Good restaurants in Mousehole and a trip to the Tinners arms in Zennor recomRead moremended. When driving on the access road let your car idle in first gear as there are a couple of rough sections. Hide
