Old Newton Cottage is a characterful cottage in a courtyard setting – once a brickyard – in the flourishing village of Newton, on the outskirts of Porthcawl. With pedestrian access, its patio and pretty garden to the front, the cottage retains an air of peace and quiet yet is within easy walking distance of two convenience stores, Post Office, off license and several pubs serving food, including The Jolly Sailor, a pub for over 200 years reputedly with several resident ghosts! Newton’s sandy beach, dog-friendly all year round, is also just half a mile away, as is the Wales Coast Path. Everything you need on the doorstep for a relaxing holiday by the sea, the cottage also provides a great base for visiting the many other attractions of the South Wales coastline, as well as easy access to both Swansea and Cardiff via the M4. Old Newton Cottage has gas central heating throughout; WiFi available.

Ground Floor:

Porch: Enclosed entrance porch, for kicking off wet and sandy shoes!

Living Room: L shaped room with a decorative but non-functional fireplace, leather sofa and armchair, Freeview TV and DVD player; staircase rising to the first floor; dining area beyond the staircase with traditional cabinet, antique Welsh dresser, gate-leg dining table and four chairs; serving hatch to kitchen.

First Floor:

Master Bedroom: with king size bed, antique chest of drawers and dressing table; WiFi hub

Dressing Room/Bedroom 2: with built-in wardrobe, leather sofa for quiet reading, can be used as a sofabed for alternative sleeping arrangements or additional guest(s).

Bathroom: contemporary bathroom with rainhead and rinser shower over the bath, WC, basin, heated towel rail and extractor fan.

Outside: enclosed courtyard style garden to the front with small patio area, bistro table and chairs; low wall, raised rockery and low wooden gate could allow more adventurous dogs to escape! The property is suitable for a small or medium sized pet.

Wow! what a beautiful property. The owner was very helpful and showed he cared not just about the property but about his guests. We were blown away at how beautiful the cottage was and particularly blown away on how much thought had gone into not only the restoration of the cottage in the first place but about every individual item that was perfeRead morectly placed to make it a traditional welsh cottage. Everything was clean. The bed was comfy and the bedroom well set up. The bathroom was lovely with everything you want. Garden was beautiful and just right to sit out in the mornings and watch the birds. Will definately visit again when we next decide to go to South Wales. Hide

We had lovely 4 days at the cottage such a beautiful cottage. Host is very accomodating, he took out a baby travel cot and high chair for our 21 month old. It's very modern and really clean, beautifully designed, very warm. All the amenties were there for our visit. Lovely area, quiet and close to the sea. I would highly recommend it.

We had a lovely stay in Old Newton Cottage. It was immaculately clean and had everything there we could possibly need. The flowers, milk and fresh welshcakes were a lovely touch. The location was also great, plenty of pubs and shops close by and a short stroll to the local beach
