Keen walkers will love exploring the endless footpaths in the immediate area, some of which are a stone's throw from Woodpecker Lodge. Those wishing to venture further, will love a visit to Eye - a charming market town packed full of character. The market town of Diss is a 9 mile drive away, which provides transport links to and from London Liverpool Street. If the seaside is calling, you can reach Southwold, Walberswick and Aldeburgh by car; just 20 miles and 22 miles respectively. Stradbroke is a small village in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. A real community feel is evident here with plenty of independent shops, 2 pubs and a leisure centre all providing an interest visit during a holiday. The historic market town of Diss, with coffee shops, restaurants and pubs overlooking the pretty lake, are within approximately fifteen minutes by car. Eye and Framlingham, communities with castles, independent shops including a chocolatier and butchers are close by, as are picture postcard villages. Thornham Walks, with 12 miles of woodland walks around an historic estate are within a few miles and there are many beautiful lanes and sites to explore by bicycle too. The Suffolk coast including communities of Aldeburgh and Southwold, the Norfolk Broads, Ipswich with river cruises on offer, and the cathedral cities and towns of Norwich and Bury St Edmunds bustling with history and fine restaurants, are all easily accessible for day trips.
