This beautiful and characterful barn conversion, which sleeps 6, is surrounded by fields, picturesque countryside, and impressive views of Wensleydale.  It has a pretty garden boasting a Wildflower corner, grassy lawn and well-appointed patio, perfect for lazing away a sunny day. Seata Barn is situated in the popular village of Askrigg with three excellent pubs, a well-stocked corner shop and a cosy café. Askrigg is the fictional Darrowby in the All Creatures Great and Small James Herriott TV series and Skeldale house is on the high street. Why not visit the real Skeldale House in Thirsk, a world renowned museum?  Ideal for walkers and nature lovers alike you will be spoilt for choice in this beautiful area. The history throughout this large barn, which oozes character, is evident: there are beams  and traditional stonework aplenty, complimented by a generous arched feature window and cosy fireplaces.  This is a super house with plenty of space to accommodate family and friends who want to enjoy a relaxing time together.

There are two reception rooms, both with wood burners, a dining kitchen, downstairs shower room and well-equipped utility room. In addition to the stunning garden, with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside, there are multiple footpaths zig-zagging from the property, meaning your next ramble is literally just outside the back door. Upstairs there are generous, comfortable bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, lovely views from every window, and a large, luxurious family bathroom. This lovely barn conversion would make an ideal retreat.  In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and with the Lakes easily accessible, this cottage is a superb base for both enjoying the peace and quiet and exploring the wide range of activities and experiences that this area of Yorkshire has to offer.  Whatever your interests there is something for everyone: historic castles, even older abbeys, museums, farms, superb local markets with the very best Yorkshire produce, and of course restaurants and tea rooms too numerous to mention.

GROUND FLOOR:
Entrance hallway: The front door leads into the entrance hallway, where you will find a large settle and red quarry tiled floor.  Lots of storage for muddy boots and shoes and in addition there is a great hanging space for coats.
Downstairs shower room: Housing a Burlington toilet and sink unit, generously-sized shower and a heated towel rail.
Utility room: Another useful space for storing boots and outdoor paraphernalia, large enough even to store your bike overnight; there is also a washing machine here for your convenience and a large Bristol sink and solid oak countertop.  You will also find an ironing board and iron and a clothes airer here.
Kitchen/Diner:  The beamed kitchen boasts a large American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, built in wall mounted electric cooker and microwave.  There are ample appliances to assist your meal preparations.  A real traditional farmhouse kitchen but with a contemporary twist, the heating is via wall mounted vertical stylish radiators.  An oak table which seats 6 sits under a designer light.  This kitchen has something for everyone: those who want to practice culinary masterpieces and those who want to enjoy eating them!  The local towns and villages abound with produce from this stunning county; try something different and make a new family favourite.
Lounge: A large, open-plan beamed room with a feature fireplace incorporating a woodburner on a stone plinth, just right to keep you cosy whatever the season.  A lovely traditional room, blended with contemporary design elements, there are large oversized sofas, a stylish console table and photography by a local artist adorns the walls.  This room is carpeted and has a window with a low sill and wooden shutters, a coffee table and a large Smart TV with Netflix.  There are views out to the fields beyond.  The in-built cupboards are stocked with a range of board games to while away an afternoon or evening spent together in front of the fire.
Off from the lounge area is the impressive double-height arched window, ready with a rocking chair for you to sit and pause awhile, contemplating the beautiful surroundings.  This space perfectly shows off the elegant custom-made oak and glass staircase, completed with a contemporary oak chandelier.
Snug: A lovely cosy room with a woodburner, another large Smart TV to avoid those squabbles over the remote, generous comfy L-shaped sofa, and feature bespoke tree-trunk shelving.  This room is also carpeted, with another low sill, where you can perch and watch the world go by.  This is a perfect room for quiet time and to sit with your feet up, watch the TV or read a book: the ideal space to ensure harmonious multi-generational holidays.

FIRST FLOOR:
Bedroom 1: King sized room with dual aspect windows and lovely views: with fields stretching into the distance on one side, and the rooftops of Askrigg on the other.  There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables all in a traditional style. A large original beam runs horizontally across the bed head.  The light fitting is a real feature and is fashioned on antlers, very appropriate in the rural location.  There is an elegant occasional chair and sumptuous sheepskin rug.
Master Bedroom 2:  An opulent suite with a super king sized bed, which can easily convert to two singles should you require, this room has a pheasant theme.  Enjoy the views of the fields and hills from the stylish occasional chair, or relax with the Smart TV.  This room has a  wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables in a contemporary oak style.

Really nice cottage in a fantastic location. Great for parking (which is always at a premium in a village location). Three good pubs nearby and some lovely places to visit and a variety of walks.

Really enjoyed our stay, the weather was excellent which showed everything at its best - great views about the back to the hills around. Plenty of space for family of 5 and allowed us to entertain others for dinner. The location is excellent in the centre of town - only 2 mins walk from pubs and restaurant. Worth taking some camping / folding chairRead mores to sit outside in the back garden area in the morning when sun is out. Hide

This is a lovely, characterful and thoughtfully designed cottage. Comfortable and well equipped, with space for everyone, either to be all together round the table in the farmhouse kitchen, or split between the two cosy sitting rooms. Spotless and sparkling when we arrived in the autumn sunshine, I can imagine it is warm and welcoming in the coldRead moreer days, with two fires crackling away in the hearths. We really enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend it. Askrigg has, not one, but three, excellent pubs and we frequented them all! Great food and atmosphere in all three. Hide
