A fabulous Georgian house standing in over 2 acres of gardens, hidden in the South Hams village of Slapton. This huge property is great for a celebration with family and friends. There's even enough room in the grounds to erect a marquee (which can be arranged with the owner). Maintaining many original Georgian features, this is a real gem – tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished with two living rooms, a conservatory and a games room.

This delightful and elegant property has a lovely living space comprising the first living room with its wood burner, dual-aspect windows and views of the grounds, and then the second which has an open fire. The conservatory also has views of the grounds and a wood burner, as well as a dining table and patio doors to the terraced area. The large kitchen is open-plan and has underfloor heating. The exposed beams add character to any meal eaten at the dining table here. There’s also a handy utility area just off the kitchen containing a washing machine, a washer/dryer and a tumble dryer. The ground-floor plays host to an en-suite double bedroom that has a small kitchen area and a door leading out to the patio area. Guests in this bedroom has the use of the ground-floor shower room. Finishing off this floor is the games room with various children's games and a bar billiards table. The second floor houses the remaining six bedrooms: a master contains two twin zip & link 3ft beds (Please advise if you require to be made into a super king size), another en-suite king-size, two twins, a double and a bunkroom. The large family room services the remaining bedrooms.

Outside, you are surrounded by beautiful gardens and spectacular wildlife. In front of the conservatory there is terrace leading to a beautiful modern, wooden gazebo with a covered area, gas BBQ, table and seating, perfect for outdoor get-togethers dining al fresco or an summer evening's drink. This area is also suitable for a marquee, a wonderful spot to host a garden celebration. Towards the front of the property, there is further lawn and patio area with garden furniture. To the front of the conservatory are duck ponds with free roaming ducks.

When you decide to tear yourself away from the property, you'll find Slapton Sands just a couple of miles away and the historical naval town of Dartmouth 8 miles away. Dartmouth is a delightful town which sits on the River Dart, home to some fabulous fish restaurants and cafes, delis and many independent shops and art galleries. Head west of the Kingsbridge Estuary and you'll find the popular sailing town of Salcombe (13.5 miles) with the sandy beaches of North Sands and South Sands, go east of the same estuary to get to East Portlemouth (10 miles).

The place is big enough to welcome a family reunion, and the garden is absolutely amazing ! But the house is old and needs a good freshen up (especially the bathrooms with mould on the ceiling ). Overall I would recommend this place (location is nice) but for a short stay (even if the house has a lot of cool equipments like a barbecue, a billiarRead mored, etc it is too old and not comfortable enough to stay more than a week) Hide

We had a fabulous holiday at Buckland House, plenty of room for all ages to relax and the gardens are lovely with areas for the children to explore. The house is well equipped, as is the outside space with BBQs and summer house. Also a great location near lovely beaches. Would happily go again.

The house and grounds were delightful- what a gorgeous property with lots of diverse areas to use if you are filling the house. The conservatory was an added bonus as was the scorching weather. Beautiful home in a private setting, within close driving distance to the sea, home warm and inviting, beautiful garden room, however the home could do with updating particularly in the bathrooms

Excellent value for money, a good base for summer holidays, comfortable beds, powerful showers, lovely garden, big kitchen and outside areas for communal gatherings, what more could you want. Wi-fi a tad unpredictable which some appreciated, others not.

The accommodation is lovely in a very peaceful area, but easy access to so many places. Beautiful walks but equally stay and relax in the house and fantastic gardens. Will visit again

It's a great house in a great location. We were a family group of ten and spent most of our time in the conservatory and bbq areas. These spaces were fantastic, and although some other areas of the house were a little tired, the property was clean and airy.

Slapton House was very comfortable and well equipped. It is very spacious with.plenty of.room for our party of twelve to be together or separate when we wanted to be. The children particularly enjoyed playing in the large gardens and the adults enjoyed the wonderful conservatory
