Property code: OC-WY446

A gorgeous character cottage in the heart of the Victorian seaside town of Swanage. Built in 1873 by the main founders of Swanage town, it even enjoyed time as a sweet shop back in the 1950s. The cottage has been thoughtfully modernised over the years without losing any of its period charm and quirky nature. Enter in via a porch with space for coats and shoes, down 3 steps into a beautifully furnished light and airy living/dining room with Purbeck stone fire place and window seat with views down to the town centre.

The kitchen whilst small has been cleverly designed with partially open wall and glass doors enabling you remain being part of the main living area.

There’s a downstairs shower room that also leads out onto a screened courtyard garden with seating, plus parking space with covered entrance to main door. The gated garden can be easily closed to keep children safe and offer privacy.

Upstairs there’s another family bathroom plus 3 bedrooms; the master boasts 2 Juliet balconies, one of which gazes straight down the road and out to sea. There’s an additional twin bedroom plus a bespoke single 4ft bed on a raised platform with reduced head height that children will love.

The cottage is tucked away in a street just off the main town centre so you’re only a couple of minutes’ walk straight down to the shops, restaurants and of course the beautiful sandy beach and Victorian pier. There’s plenty to see and do for the whole family right on your doorstep.

Bedrooms: 1) king size bed on raised plinth, built in wardrobes and balcony views to the sea 2) twin single beds with built in wardrobes and window overlooking garden 3) single 4ft bed with reduced head height

The location is excellent and the beds were very comfortable. The cottage was great for a group of four friends. Guests should be aware that the parking space is very small ( I did not attempt it). Also there is no direct contact with the owner or a local management office.

For me and my wife the Dolphin Cottage is perfect for us. Comfortable, clean, great location plenty of shops for bits and pieces ie: shopping and Fish and Chips which tasted great. It was our third stay in Swanage and the 2nd stay at the Dolphin and hopefully not the last.

A lovely cottage, located right in the middle of Swanage, with easy access to local restaurants and shops. The cottage was well equipped throughout, had excellent Wi-Fi, and the smart TV was a welcome bonus. We somehow managed to stay here during the hottest week of the year, in September! The cottage remained cool throughout, and was a pleasureRead more to come back to! The only things we would highlight, the off street parking is a bit tight, which wasn't a major problem for us, but might be a squeeze for a larger, wider car. Also, the cottage is located up a steep hill from the town, which again, wasn't a problem for us, but might cause difficulties for people who are less able. Hide

We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at Dolphins. It is a nice spacious, airy cottage. Everything was clean and tidy. The cottage is well equipped and in an excellent location for both beach and transport. Car parking space if required, and a small patio garden, safe for children, behind gates.

Absolutely wonderful stay at this cottage. The view from the main bedroom is very impressive. The cottage is very close to the town centre (but the last bit of the hill is a struggle with beach equipment). Having two bathrooms was a good bonus and a car park space was great (but a bit of a snug fit for a Ford focus). Well recommended.

Dolphins Cottage was an excellent location for a family holiday in Swanage, The property had everything as described. We had a problem with a blocked toilet on the first day but the issue was resolved immediately We would have appreciated some instruction on where to put recyclable rubbish ? Everything else was perfect Thank you

A lovely cottage, very well equipped, comfortable and close to the centre of Swanage. Many good days out within a short drive and lots of nice restaurants, pubs shops and the famous beach within a short walk. Only minor criticism is the tv signal was patchy, although online apps were available. Just as a word of advice, the last 50m up the road to Read morethe cottage is a little steep! Hide
