At a glance

  • Private wing of a striking Gothic mansion in Llanbedrog
  • Ideal for larger parties seeking space for a gathering or celebration
  • Set on an estate which is also home to an art gallery and heritage centre

Property code: OC-BOW103

Occupying the private west wing, within this Gothic Victorian mansion near the beach in Llanbedrog, Llety'r Plas self catering accommodation offers an enviable location for groups of up to 10 to get-together on the picturesque Llyn Peninsula. Built in 1857 and originally part of the famous Madryn estate, it is also home to a stunning art gallery and heritage centre, along with a fantastic cafe. Now run by an independent, charitable trust, this is the place for a Warm Welsh Welcome, with soft, golden sand just a short walk away.

Being next door to an art gallery, you will also benefit from having your own private display of artwork, mostly by local artists, along the walls of your accommodation. Living in a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, these artists are often inspired by the views and landmarks, which can be found within a short drive. From hidden coves and charming seaside villages to Bardsey Island and the Snowdonia mountains, there is so much to see. The Wales Coast Path can also be joined from the grounds.

Abersoch (2.5 miles) is another a popular destination with its excellent selection of restaurants, shops and pubs. The harbour town of Pwllheli (4 miles), home to Hafan Pwllheli Marina and its numerous sailing events, also offers a good range of amenities. There is also a wide range of popular attractions nearby, including Glasfryn Parc, Ffestiniog Railway, Cricieth castle and the Italian village of Portmeirion.

Guests are also welcome to use the picnic tables on the main lawn (to the front of the property) when the gallery and café are closed, with views towards Cardigan Bay and the mountains of Snowdonia. The grounds are as impressive as the building itself and are only shared with gallery visitors until 5pm and the occasional evening event.

Overall very pleased with the accommodation, lots of space indoors and the beds were comfortable. Showers were a bit hit and miss (hot then cold)!! We did find the lack of outdoor space adjacent to our property could have been more inviting to spend time in before the cafe closed. It is basically the disabled car park with a small seating area. ARead morelso the description says there is a gas BBQ but we didnt find one! Parking was never an issue. Hide
