Wighton is a quiet hamlet and a perfect base for exploring the impressive Norfolk coastline, just a couple of miles from the nearby seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea where fun days out can be enjoyed by all the family. Enjoy a spot of crabbing by the harbour and admire the sailing boats where the changing tides display the yachts and vessels amongst the soft sands. Take a stroll to the beach along the harbour footpath or hop aboard the narrow gauge steam railway where you’re rewarded with views of colourful beach huts decorating the sands elevated against a woodland backdrop. You may even spot a seal or two often seen basking at the water’s edge. Pop into the beach café for lunch or French’s for the best fish and chips around - there are plenty of traditional and independent shops too, with fruit and veg shops displaying their wares, plus galleries amongst the pretty lanes. With so many wonderful places to visit nearby why not take a short drive to the current home of the Earl of Leicester; Holkham Hall. Youngsters will enjoy scaling heights of the adventure playground, zipping down the ‘zip’ wire beneath the treetops or perhaps a gentle row on the boating lake. Why not take advantage of on-site bicycle hire at Holkham or in Wighton village at ‘On Yer Bike’ cycle hire close-by and admire Holkham’s red deer herd on two wheels!

Orchard Barn is a very spacious and well equipped cottage on the edge of the pretty village of Wighton. The kitchen/diner was lovely and we especially enjoyed the cosy little sitting room just off that area. The bedrooms and bathroom upstairs are particularly nice and we liked the decor throughout the whole house. In response to some previous revRead moreiews, we did not think the decor looked tired. The road is occasionally noisy but mostly quiet overnight. Overall we were happy with our choice of cottage and thought the cottage was in a good location to reach the different attractions in North Norfolk. Hide

Orchard Barn was ideal for our family holiday, with a small but secure garden, spacious and comfortable accommodation and an excellent location. The local pub had good food and service.

The cottage was clean and well stocked. It smelled very strongly of fly spray on arrival and it took a good few days to fade which was very unappealing. The property is a little tired but overall it was comfortable and it was a good location.

The cottage is very comfortable and well-equipped. Three issues. First, we found the TV difficult to use - we couldn't get either BBC 1 or 2! Second, it would have been good to have an instruction manual for the cooker, which we used a lot. Third, the cottage is very close to quite a busy road, which meant we were woken up once or twice by motorRead more cyclists. Keeping the windows closed more or less kept the noise out, but made things a bit stuffy upstairs. We think the info on your website should have been more up-front about traffic noise. Hence we couldn't say whether we would recommend the property - light sleepers might find the traffic a bit of a problem. Hide

Beautiful cottage in rural north norfolk. Stayed for 3 nights and had a fabulous time. Every detail was met with plenty of towels, clean bed linen and the kitchen full of utensils. Even a hairdryer. Heating was easy to adjust and there was a welcome pack of goodies from the owner. Nice touch. TV worked well and managed to log in to Netflix. LocRead moreation was perfect for us Wells next to Sea was an 8 min drive and Holt about 22 min drive. Enough parking for 2 cars on drive. Would definitely recommend and would consider hiring the cottage again in the future. Hide

This is potentially a lovely house but we experienced problems with the heating which were well documented our emails to yourselves. The oven was dirty causing a smell and there was a lump burnt food in one oven. Downstairs shower door does not close therefore water leaks out flooding and staining the floor. Downstairs toilet seat is damaged. Read moreThe decoration is tired and needs up dating particularly the bathroom and family bedroom. The general cleanliness could be improved. We had to change the batteries in the tv and dvd remotes. The mirror in the smaller bedroom is not fixed to the wall and parents a danger to younger children this need to be fixed to the wall as a matter of urgency. The carpet in the dining area needs replacing as it is a trip hazard. We were disappointed with the property because potentially it could be so lovely and it is in a great position to explore North Norfolk. We do feel however that the above items need to be addressed to justify the rental cost. Finally we would like to thank Original Cottages staff the polite and efficient way they dealt the heating problems. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm that we will discuss this with the owner Hide

The cottage is in a lovely position on the edge of the village. The cottage has a well equipped modern kitchen with a comfortable sitting area and dining room as well as a large TV lounge. A lovely welcome pack of local goodies was very much appreciated.
