Ellingham House is a beautiful period property in the heart of Whitby. This large and stylish Edwardian terraced house, set over three floors, has a spacious kitchen dining room, a separate living room, four good-sized bedrooms and three bathrooms. The house has been refurbished and furnished with loving care and offers all modern comforts, yet retains a lot of character and period features such as cast-iron fireplaces and original banisters. There is accommodation for up to eight guests, making it the perfect choice for family gatherings and groups of friends. The superb and spacious dining kitchen is ideal for sitting down and talking about your day strolling around Whitby, or sharing a meal cooked in the fully equipped kitchen.

Whitby is a very popular seaside town retaining old world character and has lots of events throughout the year. Whatever your interests there is something for everyone in the locality, historic castles, even older abbeys, museums, farms, walking, cycling, superb local markets with the very best Yorkshire produce and of course restaurants and tea rooms too numerous to mention.

GROUND FLOOR:

Entrance: Through the main front door and into hall with coat hooks.
Lounge: 2 three seater sofas, 1 two seater sofa, large coffee table, two small coffee tables with lamps, large screen smart TV on wall, Victorian style fireplace (not in use), modern wooden shutters, Urban style chandelier
Kitchen/Diner: One step up to the modern fitted kitchen with built in fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave. Built under double oven and grill, ceramic hob, extractor over, door to the rear yard with seating. Under stairs cupboard with hoover. Large dining table easily seating eight with matching chairs and Urban chandelier over, modern sideboard and large skeleton clock on the wall.

STAIRS UP TO THE HALF LANDING:
Bathroom: Panelled bath with thermostatic shower over, wash hand basin with mirror over, heated  towel rail.
Separate WC: Toilet, small wash hand basin, towel rail.

FIRST FLOOR
Bedroom One: King size bed, two bedside cabinets with drawers and lamps, dressing table with hidden mirror, solid wood wardrobe, original cast iron fireplace (not in use), window with wooden shutters overlooking the front
Bedroom Two: King size bed, two bedside cabinets with drawers and lamps, dressing table with hidden mirror, solid wood wardrobe, original cast iron fireplace (not in use), window with wooden shutters overlooking the rear
Bathroom: Large walk in shower with rainfall head and smaller shower head, low level WC, wash hand basin in vanity unit with touch light mirror over, heated towel rail

SECOND FLOOR:
Landing: spacious landing with large solid wood wardrobe for use by the second floor bedrooms.
Bedroom Three: Two single beds, bedside cabinet with lamp, dressing table with hidden mirror and lamp, cast iron fireplace (not in use), window overlooking the front
Bedroom Four: Zip and Link bed made into a king sized bed, two bedside cabinets with lamps, dressing  table with hidden mirror, cast iron fireplace (not in use)

Stayed at Ellingham House over Easter weekend. Pros - location for visiting Whitby is really good (maybe 5 mins walk to the river) and property generally a good size/well equipped (although showing some signs of wear and tear). Cons - this may be churlish but property is "just a house", no "wow factor" such as a great view or a really special room Read moreto be in. Ellingham works much better as a base than a destination. Also, I will knock a star off for parking. Not the property's fault but the streets are very tight. When I arrived on Good Friday (admittedly a very busy weekend) I could not get parked and had to leave car miles away from house. If I was arriving in a big group/with many cars I would think twice because I wouldn't guarantee getting >1 car parked nearby. Hide

One of the most comfortable and spacious houses we've stayed in in Whitby. Great location, and we'll decorated comfortable accommodation. The kitchen and living room were especially roomy, with plenty of room to get around the dining table without anyone having to move or get up. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Lovely, warm cottage with plenty of room for everyone. Lots of crockery, cutlery and drinking glasses. A very comfortable stay.
