Rose Cottage is a Traditional Dales cottage with small walled gardens situated at the heart of the idyllic village of Caldbergh in Coverdale. Close to the market towns of Middleham and Leyburn, this charming stone cottage with exposed stone walls and wooden beamed ceiling has been tastefully refurbished and modernised to a high standard. Rose Cottage with its 3 bedrooms, 2 large separate reception rooms, modern granite worktop kitchen, utility room, 2 bathrooms (one with bath), and separate boot room with space for bicycles, provides spacious, comfortable, and relaxed accommodation suitable for couples, families, and small groups.

With its Norman Castle and known as the Newmarket of the North, Middleham is home to many top racehorse trainers. Great care is needed when driving through the town as strings of thoroughbred race horses climb up through the town to Middleham Low Moor for their morning canter.

Cross the River Ure and on to Leyburn with its splendid market square, shops, pubs, restaurants, and a popular local market on Fridays.

Caldbergh is perfectly situated to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park with wonderful walks and is close to the Tour de Yorkshire route for great cycling. the Yorkshire Dales has been voted as one of the best cycling destinations in the UK

Rose Cottage provides a peaceful retreat. Drive just over 1 mile, across Cover bridge at Coverham Abbey to the Saddle Room pub and restaurant and the Forbidden Corner. On foot, cross the River Cover via one of the various foot bridges of St Simons’, Bird Ridding, and Hullo’s, there are many circular walks from the cottage taking in the local pubs and restaurants including The Saddle Room, The Blue Lion (East Witton), The Forester’s Arms (Carlton), and the Wensleydale Heifer (West Witton). Alternatively, picnic by the river, or at Pinker’s Pond with its stunning views down the dale and across to Penhill.

Coverdale is a well-kept secret, and, with its lush green pastures and dry-stone walls, it is one of the most peaceful and prettiest of the Dales. On discovering Coverdale, James Herriot was prompted to say,

‘I suddenly found myself in wonderland’.

A lovely spacious property in a stunning and peaceful location. Was a lovely base for a family Christmas getaway. Comfy beds and living room, and cosy warm. The surrounding area is beautiful and we hope to return as my daughter loves seeing the horses on the local Gallops in Middleham.

Rose Cottage is a lovely, comfortable cottage, beautifully furnished and with very comfortable beds, a well equipped modern kitchen (it even has toast tongs!) and it was all scrupulously clean. It is in a small rural hamlet up single track roads, which could be a problem for some drivers (it was for us when it came to night driving). I'd love toRead more go back, but earlier in the year, when the evenings are longer. The whole area is beautiful, with so much to see. Hide
