Ash Barn, on the outskirts of Braunton, is a detached, reverse level property designed to take advantage of the outstanding views over the village towards the dunes and sea at Saunton. Sleeping six people in three bedrooms and welcoming two dogs, the cottage has been beautifully modernised by its owners and yet remains in-keeping with its rich heritage. The lounge/diner on the first floor has patio doors leading out onto a spacious balcony with a large table capable of sitting six people. The views from this balcony, over the tops of houses in Braunton village below, really are breathtaking. The lounge also has a woodburner for cooler evenings and a complimentary basket of logs is provided. Also on the first floor is a modern kitchen/diner with triple aspect windows – again enjoying the view over the valley towards the sea – and the family bathroom with separate shower cubicle. On the ground floor are the three bedrooms and a shower room. Bedroom 1 benefits from French doors opening onto the patio which in turn leads to a pebbled courtyard. The integral garage houses a washing machine and tumbler dryer and is also perfect for storing bicycles, surfboards and walking boots. Outside, the cottage has pretty patio and pebbled areas – again with plenty of seating – and is fully enclosed to keep your four-legged friends safe.

Ash Barn is just over half a mile from the centre of Braunton which has a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. The village is also home to the Braunton and District Museum, the Countryside Centre and the Museum of British Surfing. At the heart of what is said to be England's most biodiverse parish, Braunton Burrows is abundant with richly varied wildlife. First-time visitors to the Burrows are amazed by the scale of the sand dunes that gives them their name. The Tarka Trail - a footpath and cycle trail built along the route of the old railway line – runs through Braunton.

We loved the location and went on nice walks in the local area. Good choice of shops and places to eat within walking distance. We appreciated the gift of some biscuits and wine that were left for us. The house was superficially clean but needs a more thorough clean on high surfaces as lots of cobwebs and low areas such as skirting boards. The beRead moredding and towels were all fresh. Hide

A fabulous week at the house in December. So cosy and the kitchen and living room are great spaces. We had some direct contact with the owner who was so genuine and helpful. Will happily return, perhaps when we can use the bbq!

Excellent position and fantastic views, Very quiet. Spacious and comfortable. Braunton is a very nice village with good local shops and coffee shops. Saunton Sands and Baggy Point are wonderful for walking a dog.

We had a lovely holiday at Ash barn. We enjoyed the house but it does need maintenance/cleaning. The views from the balcony upstairs are fabulous. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Basically, everything you need. Parking is tight but managable

Lovely house with a great balcony with distant sea views. Comfortable spacious accommodation. But, the parking! Only room for two small cars and the road surface on the turn is so rough. Possibly poor enough to prevent booking again

We love Ash Barn and decided to book this year for the same May week . Our Grand Daughter was only 3 months old last year but 15 months old now and an inquisitive baby toddler. Having two stair gates an excellent high chair and travel cot meant we all had peace of mind . This allowed three generations to have a wonderful family holiday with wonderRead moreful weather .
