Low Arnside Cottage is a dog friendly traditional Lakeland cottage located a short drive from the village of Coniston (3.8 miles) and at over 300 years old is full of character and historic features. Set on a working fell sheep farm, it offers a fantastic opportunity to experience Lakeland farm life. Set down a small single track 400m from the main farmhouse, Low Arnside offers fantastic vistas and a quiet peaceful retreat, in a stunning location.

You enter the cottage into a beautiful wood panelled hallway oozing with character, throughout the cottage there are some low beams and ceilings common with a property of this age. Off the hallway, we have the kitchen, fully equipped with all you could need for your stay. Opposite the kitchen is the large open plan living room with dining table and comfortable seating laid out around the marvellous inglenook fireplace encompassing a wood burner. As an added bonus all wood is supplied for the duration of your stay. This a perfect room to relax and unwind after a days exploring or to enjoy a homemade meal at the dining table. Also on the ground floor is the modern family bathroom, with a large bath, overhead shower and underfloor heating.

As you go up the stairs you can really appreciate the age of this cottage, with latched doors, uneven floorboards and low ceilings which give a magical feeling that you are truly in a cottage steeped in history. Upstairs we have two double rooms and a twin room, each has plenty of storage with a uniquely picturesque view from each window.

Outside we have a fenced off grassed area and picnic table, perfect for enjoying the spectacular views of the surrounding fells and for letting your dogs exercise.

The village of Coniston has plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops providing all you need for your holiday. There are also the water activities and lake cruises with the historic steam yacht gondola launch, which originally launched in 1859.

Up to 2 dogs are permitted to stay at this property. A third dog may be accepted upon request at the owner's discretion.

Please be advised that the property is situated half a mile up an even, single track drive. There are also low beams and slightly uneven floors throughout the property. Due to the property's location, WIFI is also unavailable.

The cottage is just as wonderfully welcoming and cosy as it was 15 years ago if not better. Our stay was simply stunning. Everything we needed surroundings blissful and not one of us wanted to go home. Not even our teen who was without internet most of the time.

This is a beautiful house in a wonderful location. The views to Coniston, Bowfell, Langdale and Helvellyn are as good as you will get anywhere in the lakes. It is such a peaceful place , which takes you back in time. We didn't use the car all week and walked from the door to different places every day. Fabulous!

Charming cottage on a working lake district farm. Limited WIFI connection which for us was a good thing in today's world! Loved proximity to the fells behind the cottage, gnarly road up to the farm and the cottage made it a proper "experience". Fantastic views - loved the walk up to black crag which was under an hour for some of the best views of tRead morehe lakes! We were provided with a lovely tray of goodies on arrival and Martin was incredibly helpful! Hide

Beautiful historic cottage in an off the beaten track location. Wonderful fell walking right outside the door. Comfortable with all the amenities you might need. Hopefully we will visit again soon.

I cannot praise this cottage enough. Location is absolutely unbeatable. Beautifully laid out with very cosy sofas and beds. In my opinion best experienced in the winter months when you can use the fire to its full potential. Located on a working farm, you have the company of beautiful cows, sheep and sheep dogs. Low Arnside is an idyllic cottage in the heart of truly breathtaking countryside. It has everything you could need including total peace and quiet. The farm is a working farm so there are animals around which is a bonus. A wonderful holiday in a wonderful place. We will definitely return.

We really loved the remoteness, lack of WiFi and being in such a beautiful location. The house is perfect with a dog due to flag stone floors downstairs and the private garden. The wood burning stove makes it super cosy in the sitting room and other rooms get warm with the storage heaters. I was concerned about the downstairs bathroom because Im pRead moreregnant and need to go in the night, but the stairs are carpeted and easy to navigate so it wasnt a problem at all. We were only two people and the dog so we had quite a lot of space, it would feel a bit tight with 6 adults but lovely with children. Lots of low doors but they have padding on which saved my head on many occasions. Hide
