The Tarka trail that follows the route of the old railway runs through the village and provides miles of footpaths and cycleways(cycle hire available in the village) around the Taw Estuary towards the market town of Barnstaple and further on to the watersport centre of Instow and the Elizabethan Port town of Bideford. For those wishing to enjoy the beautiful sandy surfing beaches along the golden coast of North Devon the 3 mile expanse of Saunton Sands backed by the sand dunes system of Braunton Burrows (part of the North Devon Biosphere) is just 2 miles away and the large sandy bay of Croyde just a further 2 miles on.
