Blakeney with its harbour, marshes and stunning scenery is a hotspot for a great coastal holiday. Within easy walking distance of the cottage there are several places to eat, a local delicatessen, a general store plus the North Norfolk Coastal path, which is great for birdwatching and walking. The walk to Morston on the coastal path is just over a mile and with a lunch at The Anchor when you get there, it is a lovely way to spend the day, as is a trip to see the local seal colony at Blakeney Point. The village also has some interesting art galleries, gift shops and The Blakeney Harbour Rooms has a growing reputation for showcasing some good tribute bands. This stunning diverse coast is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are fantastic sandy beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham with beautiful Holkham Hall and deer park also in the village, both a short drive away. In the summer visit Wiveton Hall - now a well-known landmark following the BBC's Normal for Norfolk programme. Stop in the cafe to admire the beautiful marsh views with a cup of tea and pick your own raspberries and strawberries from the fruit farm - it's all normal for Norfolk!

We spent a delightful week at Boat Barn Cottage, celebrating a birthday with 4 generations of family. The cottage was very clean, really well equipped, accessible for a wheelchair user and the garden was aafe for children and dogs to be outside. The location of the property made walking straight from the front door towards either Cley and Morston sRead moreimple. Having a Spar shop the other side of the road, along with a coffee bar and fresh fish shop also made catering easy. It was lovely not to need a car; the coast hopper bus stops less than 100yds away. Fantastic! Lovely location, lovely house. Beautifully presented!.Everything was to hand: shops, pubs, restaurants, walks - ideal for dogs and their walkers. We really liked our stay and would like a return trip in the future.

The property itself if beautiful, but unfortunately it is not very well looked after. The boiler wasn't working when we arrived and that took 2 days to get sorted while we were without heating. Not what you want during Xmas week!! Apparently the boiler isn't big enough for the property and needs replacing. The maintenance company looking after tRead morehis property are rubbish. There was a smell of urine on the carpet in one of the bedrooms, all of the bathrooms smelled as though they'd been washed with dirty water. Vacuum cleaner smelled badly of dog, so if they can't clean their vacuum how can they keep the house clean? There was a light bulb out, we had to change batteries in tv remote. Toilet roll holders are all loose. Shower heads unclean, uncomfortable lumpy sofa that needs replacing due to the amount of use it's had. We found a baby's dummy on the floor of one of the bedrooms. The patio doors had a "Do not use" sign on. It is such a shame because it's a beautiful cottage which has a really good layout for multi-generational families. It desperately needs some TLC. On the positive, the location is fantastic, you're right in the heart of a beautiful village. There is parking for 2 cars parked in tandem and 1 small car at the front but it is very tight as people park by the Spar. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We are dealing with your feedback and will make sure all issues are rectified. Hide

A beautiful cottage in a really good location in Blakeney. Spacious accommodation for a group of people with everything that you need - including a second lounge for those who want to watch TV when others don't!!

This cottage/building is fabulous, offering all you might need in terms of space. It is also in a great location with a handy, well stocked Spar, a coffee shop and a fishmonger only a few steps away. All the local amenities and eateries in Blakeney and are within a 5/10 minute walk. There is also a bus stop within a couple of minutes walk, which iRead mores handy when you prefer not to take a car and try to park elsewhere etc. The coastal bus service is reasonably priced and buses are frequent. That being said, my opinion is that some updating is required in terms of decoration, furniture and soft furnishings. I would hazard a guess that the photographs of the advertised property were taken some time ago. We stayed here last year and again this year due to the location and space the property offers but were disappointed to see that nothing had really been improved upon in a year - apart from new dining table chairs. The property needed some updating last year and therefore, this year, with a years more wear, we found that aspect disappointing - especially for a property rated as being 5*. Hide
