Rock Rose Cottage is situated in the heart of the popular fishing village of Appledore just a stroll from the busy quay side and close to all amenities including family friendly pubs, cafes and a variety of shops and craft galleries selling locally made products. Famous for its narrow, colourful streets Appledore enjoys an assortment of festivals throughout the year and during the summer season the local brass band entertains crowds on the quay.
This delightful terrace cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard. Its clean, crisp contemporary design is pleasing on the eye, with brand new fixtures and fittings and ample natural light giving the whole property a light and bright feel. Much of the original character remains throughout the 3 floors, with the main access being on the middle floor leading into the dining room which has table seating for 6. The open plan, newly fitted kitchen has plenty of work space and storage whilst the adjoining living area has comfortable seating from which to enjoy the wonderful views from the floor to ceiling windows. French doors open out to a Juliet balcony taking in the picturesque scene of boats and water sports along the estuary. Steep, narrow stairs from the hallway lead up to two bedrooms, (one with estuary views) and a family bathroom. From the living room a more modern staircase leads down to the lower ground floor comprising master double room with en-suite shower and French doors leading from the bedroom out to the delightful courtyard with raised decked area from which to sit and enjoy the views across the estuary(Care should be taken with young children due to low wall). Access to the garden is also available via a separate doorway off the lower ground floor hall.
The cottage is ideally situated for accessing local amenities or simply enjoying a stroll around the village taking in the sights and sounds. During the summer a small foot ferry takes passengers across the estuary to the small village of Instow with its beach and further choice of eateries including an award winning tea shop with adjoining deli selling a good selection of homemade and locally produced goods. A short car journey takes you to the two larger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple whilst family attractions such as The Big Sheep and The Milky Way and the sandy, surfing beach of Westward Ho! are also close by.
