Nestling in one of the oldest streets of this picturesque fishing village of Appledore and surrounded by colour washed cottages. Painter’s cottage offers a cosy retreat for couples, friends or small families looking for a base to enjoy this wonderful part of North Devon. The village's seafaring character and delightful setting make it a favourite haunt of artists, craftsmen and writers. A choice of pubs, restaurants, shops and art studios, can be found on the quayside or scattered amongst the narrow colourful cobbled streets of this historic village. Two character pubs, serving excellent food are close by and the cottage is within a short walk of the quay where fishing trips and fresh fish are frequently available and delightful views across the estuary to Instow can be enjoyed. The front door opens directly into the good sized living/ dining room where a warm and welcoming atmosphere will hit you as soon as you walk in. A well-equipped modern kitchen leads out into a small fully enclosed courtyard ideal for relaxing after a wonderful day out exploring the area or for an alfresco breakfast on warm summer days. A family bathroom is also on the ground floor and an external utility area in the courtyard is ideal for additional storage. There are two cosy bedrooms on the first floor, a double with ensuite WC and washbasin and a single room.  There is much to explore locally including a ferry in season over to the beach, village and watersports centre of Instow and where the Tarka Trail is easily accessible for walkers or cyclists. The surf washed sands of Westward Ho! with its famous golf course, Northam Burrows Country Park which is part of the North Devon Biosphere and historic port town of Bideford are all also within five minutes 'drive. For those wishing to explore further afield the dramatic coastal scenery, hidden coves and picturesque coastal villages which are easily accessible just off the Atlantic highway, as it winds its way through North Devon and into North Cornwall, should not be missed.  Whilst the country villages and market towns give a wonderful taste of Devon life and great places to shop, enjoy a cream tea or visit renowned attractions such as RHS Garden Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal.
