Review: Pembroke Mill 1 / Millstone Retreat We recently stayed at Pembroke Mill 1 / Millstone Retreat and unfortunately, it did not live up to its billing as luxury accommodation. At best, this property could be described as 3-star. On arrival, only one bed was made up we had to contact the owner to have the other beds prepared, which was noRead moret the ideal start. The combined kitchen and lounge area is adequate in size, but poorly arranged. The dining table is pushed under the stairs and only has three chairs, making it impossible for a group of five to eat together comfortably. The kitchen is extremely basic, equipped with just one of everything: five knives, forks, plates, etc. There was a toaster, but it was hidden away in a cupboard. Disappointingly, the kitchen lacks a dishwasher something a compact or half-size model could easily resolve. Essentials were missing too, such as oven gloves, a cafetire, placemats and egg cups. We eventually found some egg cups downstairs in the communal kitchen, which was uninviting and not practical for regular use, though it does include a freezer. On the positive side, the beds are comfortable and there is storage in each room. However, many wardrobes were filled with spare duvets and pillows, which significantly limited usable hanging space this should be addressed. The bathroom was another major concern. It is outdated, and the bath/shower arrangement is potentially unsafe, especially for older guests. The bath is small, slippery, and has no grab rail or support for safe entry and exit. This is not acceptable in accommodation advertised as luxury. The bathroom and toilet facilities are minimal for five people and are in serious need of updating. The outdoor space is pleasant, with picnic benches, a climbing frame, trampoline, football goals, and a barbecue. Additionally, the location is convenient the property is within walking distance of the town. In summary, if youre looking for a simple base with basic amenities, this may suit your needs. However, if you expect a well-equipped, truly luxurious cottage, this is unlikely to meet your expectation. Hide
