Property code: OC-MAGAZI

Set into the hillside of Lamorna Cove, The Magazine was once the dynamite store for the local quarry. Now a detached traditional Cornish cottage, The Magazine is a cosy retreat with truly stunning sea views overlooking Lamorna Cove yet only a short stroll in the lovely wooded lane to the famous Lamorna Wink pub.

Tucked into the cliff side, you access the cottage via steep steps up through the terraced gardens. The ground floor comprises of a well-equipped kitchen, dining room with table and chairs, and a traditional cosy living room with woodburner and spiral staircase leading upstairs and separate WC. Just off the living room is a conservatory/dining area from where you can while away the days taking in those magnificent ocean views. If you are lucky you may even spot the seals playing in the waves!

Upstairs there are two bedrooms; one double with balcony overlooking the cove with breathtaking sea views, and one twin. There is a family bathroom with electric shower over bath.

Outside the lush sub-tropical gardens provide plenty of space for alfresco living, with decking, patio furniture. The terraced gardens continue further up the hillside, with various decked areas to sit and make the most of the magnificent vistas. An outdoor heated shower provides the opportunity to wash off any sand or mud from children and furry friends alike.  There is a designated parking bay for one vehicle at the base of the hillside and also a designated parking space in the car park near the beach. Please note that access to The Magazine is steep with steps. Children need to be supervised at all times.

Lamorna Cove is favoured by walkers, artists and film makers for its rugged unspoilt charm. There is a cafe down near the harbour and the infamous Lamorna Wink pub is just a quarter of a mile up the pretty wooded valley.

The main thing going for The Magazine is its position over looking the Cove. But it's also a very comfortable and traditional cottage. It's well equipped inside and out and has good WiFi. In the winter the cafe is closed and the pub only opens at weekends but there's plenty of places to go in Mousehole (a hour or so walk), Newlyn and Penzance

We loved the location and cottage and have rebooked for summer - just a little improvement on cleanliness would make it perfect.

The cottage and location were both wonderful, just a short stroll to the cove and fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Sebastian at Original Cottages was extremely helpful with updating our parking details and emailing to confirm, nothing was too much trouble. Hope to be back very soon

We are completely in love with this cottage. We didn't have the best of weather whilst we were there but because the cottage was so cosy and comfortable with such beautiful views out over the cove that it didn't really matter. The conservatory was the perfect place to spend time and watch the sea when it was too wet to be out. The outside space waRead mores intriguing with various areas for relaxing and cheeky little models hidden amongst the rocks and plants in the vertical garden. We really hope that we can come back and stay here again soon. Hide

The views are spectacular at this property . It is comfortable and well decorated and for us just perfect. I would say that as it is situated on a steep hill ,and the steps to the property are quite steep and the gravel slippy in places too. It would not be suitable for anyone with mobility pproblems. The cove is beautiful and picturesque and the sRead moremall cafe serves lovely snacks. Its great for walkers and sightseeing. We have been twice and loved every minute. Hide
