Disappointing stay cottage feels neglected and poorly maintained Unfortunately, I wouldnt recommend this cottage in its current condition. While the sea view is beautiful and a real highlight, the rest of the experience was let down by poor maintenance, cleanliness issues, and a general lack of care. Check-in was confusing instructions didnRead moret mention going down a flight of stairs outside, and the lockbox code given was the same as another flat's, which led us to accidentally access the wrong unit. Thankfully it was unoccupied. We had to call the owner for clarification, which was stressful after a long journey. Also, using the same code for multiple lockboxes is a big security concern. The external stairs were very steep and unlit at night, making arrival with luggage difficult and even unsafe. The outdoor area was unkempt, with furniture covered in bird droppings and the patio in need of basic upkeep. Inside, the cottage had a strong musky, damp smell on arrival. There were cobwebs and a few spiders, which made it feel like the place hadnt been properly cleaned in some time. The cottage felt run-downpeeling paint, scuffed worktops, loose door handles, and a broken shower door. The sofa was uncomfortable, and overall, the place lacked the charm and care youd expect from a holiday rental. The wardrobe was unusable, packed with bedding (some of which had questionable stains), and most drawers and cupboards were full of clutter, making the space feel like a dumping ground rather than a guest-ready cottage. The kitchen area was dim, with only one of the two spotlights working. No soundproofingwe could clearly hear the upstairs guests snoring, chatting, and walking around, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The visitors book was full of similar complaints, the latest from September 2024, suggesting that feedback hasn't been taken seriously. Weve stayed in many cottages before, and even simple ones can feel welcoming when theyre looked after. Sadly, this one felt neglected and unloved. With a bit of care and maintenance, it could be so much better, but as it stands, we were disappointed. Hide

Dirty, needs a very good clean. There was a rat in the garden, the shower cubicle was black and my wife cleaned it. There was a piece of toast under the chair, the floor around the bin was dirty. The lick on the bathroom door was broken. The handrail leading into the flat needs to be replaced as it's rotten and an accident waiting to happen.
