Clean cosy and quiet, perfect, everything needed was there apart from logs which maybe down to the fire hazard on the moors, the shop opposite catered for most of out needs and reasonable priced, the only downside we found was if you wanted a steak in a restaurant you had to travel for miles

The property has an excellent location. It was in warm, inviting and incredibly clean and fully equipped. We would highly recommend for all ages. We went at Christmas time with a small child, the property has everything you could possibly think of and was wonderfully christmassy decorated. The kitchen is so well equipped, we cooked a full ChristmaRead mores dinner. The small extras, like the toilet roll, washing up liquid and especially the milk were an enormous help after a long journey. Well definitely be back! Hide

We stayed at this cottage last year because the location is perfect for the railway. Very pleased to see improvements - new carpets, freshly painted, generally much cleaner and brighter. Not ideal for a small child (we had a 15mo with us) because the staircase is open on one side. Comfortable and generally well-equipped (but no dishwasher).Read more Perfect for steam enthusiasts! We had a lovely weekend with my dad and uncle. They used to stay in the identical cottage next door in the 1940's on their holidays and as boys used to wave at all the trains. A real trip down memory lane

Absolutely brilliant location , parking is an issue you cant guarantee on road and thats only over night , the railway station car park on the other side of the road is not guaranteed as very busy during the day. Need to ensure tickets are bought each day in time. Dog friendly but be prepared to take dog for a walk to do business which is not diffiRead morecult as nice woodland walks down below car park or take the path to left in from of cottage. Brilliant walk from Goathland back to Grosmont having got heritage train there , train very reasonable as buy on day rover and can use anytime for 12 months , be prepared for trains being very busy , we managed fine as got to stations early as had two dogs to get on and off also. Whitby tour bus very good , and lots of nice places to eat , lovely garden centre at ruswarp and the butchers there was amazing !!! Thoroughly enjoyed holiday and if you like the trains you will never get bored ! The Station Tavern does great food and a nice place to have a drink and the local shop is very handy !! Can always go to little tea room just up to the left or the cottage on the rail path or get a coffee and bacon roll or a cake from station cafe, lovely gallery down the road. In all a lovely location and cottage spacious and lovely location. We only discovered the walk to egmont bridge on last day but again a lovely walk along the river . Hide

The cottage has had an internal make over which has really made it very pleasant, including a new cooker and carpets. It is a great location to base your self, park up the car and travel by historical transport.

Four of us plus our dog had a lovely three night break in this property over the August bank holiday weekend. The main reason for choosing this accommodation was its proximity to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and as far as that goes, well you couldnt get any closer! Watching the activity on the station and the locomotives passing by was a reaRead morel highlight. The cottage itself was spacious, well-equipped and comfortable. Lots of railwayana dotted about the place which is a nice touch. We had an issue midway through our stay with the hot water but this was quickly resolved. We would definitely return. Hide
