Property code: OC-1784

Built in 1642 this ancient historic chapel-style building was created to disguise its actual use as a munitions store during the English Civil War. Its style and sense of history will charm you from the moment you step inside the front door.  Nowadays it is a magical holiday home that still retains many of its original features such as the triptych windows, beautiful beams, original kitchen and fireplaces but also offers creature comforts for modern living. Being an ancient building it is set over various levels from the kitchen breakfast room on the lower floor to the beamed bedrooms at the top of the house.  Surrounded by its own garden with countryside views, The Magazine is situated directly on the Peddars Way, great for walkers of all ages and the National Cycle Route 1 runs directly through the village. The village has a good pub and it is just a short journey to the wide open beaches of the Royal Norfolk coast.  Shop: 3 miles Pub: 1 mile

Steps down to Lower Ground Floor:
Kitchen/Breakfast Room recently refurbished with built-in electric oven, electric hob, dishwasher, fridge with icebox, microwave, washing machine, antique pine table and chairs.  Fireplace with woodburner. French doors open onto a small courtyard area surrounded by lavender planting and herbs

Steep steps up to

Upper Ground Floor:
Sitting/Dining Room with comfortable seating, window seat, TV, Bluetooth speakers, WiFi, dining table with bench seating and chairs. French doors to the garden
Bathroom & Wet Room with bath, washbasin, wc and walk-in shower with rainfall shower head
Bedroom 1 with twin beds

First Floor:
Bedroom 2 with a king-size bed
Bedroom 3 with a single bed

Garden: the house is surrounded by its garden with lawned area, patio area with table and chairs and barbeque.
Parking: Designated parking for two medium cars.
Heating: Oil fired central heating. Woodburners with fuel starter pack.
Pets:  Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome, please be aware of our booking information regarding pets.
Also provided:  Towels. Books and games. Radios. Hairdryers. Larder fridge. Welcome pack. Summerhouse for bike storage.
Notes:  This is a non smoking property. The Magazine is a unique and ancient building and as such the staircase is steep and there are some uneven floor levels and numerous steps both within and without the house, we would suggest this property would not suit the less agile.  The garden is not securely fenced owing to the different levels of the site/garden. Duvets are feather filled. Mobile reception – good. The wifi should be good and suitable for down loading films or running a smart TV.

Sedgeford is a charming village with an award winning local pub, The King William IV. After a good lunch take a walk along The Peddars Way, which is directly outside The Magazine; Hunstanton and the coast one way, Suffolk the other!  The location of the village is within easy reach of the Royal Norfolk coastal resorts of Hunstanton and Heacham with their fabulous sandy beaches, where you can also while away time rock-pooling and fossil hunting and stay to watch the sunset one of the best you will ever see.  A little further along the coast you can sail from Brancaster, bird watch at Titchwell or Snettisham or spend a days’ exploration on the Scolt Head Island Nature Reserve.  With the historic houses of Sandringham, Houghton Hall and Holkham nearby, the links course at Hunstanton and the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club at Brancaster for golfers, the races at Fakenham and boutique shopping in beautiful Burnham Market, there is something for everyone in this corner of Norfolk.

What a lovely place. Such a charming building. Very clever how it had been renovated. We all had a lovely time and really appreciate you letting us stay in such a special place which was convenient for the beaches and Sandringham. I feel inspired to walk the Peddars Way.

This cottage was perfect. Although just off a bush road the quiet and the tranquillity oozed out of it. We had a completely relaxing weekend. Will definitely be booking again.
