This beautiful farmhouse sits on the hill above the pretty seaside village and beach at Aberdaron, right at the tip of the Lleyn Penisula. Ysgubor Bach is full of character, sleeping eight guests in four bedrooms. Uniquely it also has a Russian Banya (a wood fuelled type of sauna, see details below) making it superb for breaks throughout the year.

The House: is spacious, with comfortable furnishings, oak beams and an impressive inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove

Living Room: is largely open plan with a seating area around the woodburner, with sofas, TV and Wifi. A separate area has an extending dining table and chairs and a further ‘snug’ area with a sofa, iPod dock, radio and bookcase with a range of books. The floors are wooden with rugs over.

Kitchen: this farmhouse style kitchen has the impressive original range in place which can be used for an authentic cooking experience! A small black Aga with gas hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge, also a central table with some seating. The separate utility room houses a washing machine, Belfast sink, coffee machine with pods  and small fridge/freezer.

Conservatory: is at the front of the house from where you can enjoy the views and relax in the conservatory style furniture.

There is a small cloakroom on the ground floor with WC and basin

Carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor where there are four nicely styled bedrooms, a family bathroom and separate shower room.

Bedroom 1: a spacious king size bedroom with Freeview TV and en suite shower room

Bedroom 2: a double.

Bedroom 3: a twin room

Bedroom 4: with full sized bunk beds

Family Bathroom: with a bath with hand held shower, WC and basin,  and modern separate tiled shower room.

Outside: Ysgubor Bach has a patio area to the front of the house with picnic bench seating and a barbecue. To the side there is a large secure grassed area with trees. There are lovely views across open farmland and ample off-road parking for up to three cars.

Area: The beach at Aberdaron is gorgeous, sandy and sheltered. Further beaches can be explored along the coastline, including the famous Porth Oer (whisling sands). Day trips can be taken to the beautiful Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island)from just up the coast, a paradise for bird watchers or those seeking the peace and tranquility of this mystical island. Aberdaron village has two award winning bars both serving meals and light refreshments,(one with a balcony overlooking the beach), cafes and a fish and chip shop selling locally caught seafood, a newsagent with an off license, a local bakery and Spar grocery store with Post Office. The Wales Coast Path is on your doorstep with stunning walks in both directions and the National Trust has a fabulous visitor/interpretation centre, Porth Y Swnt, by the beach. Watersports are very popular at Aberdaron, with golf and fishing also available at Pwllheli. The popular seaside town of Abersoch is 10 miles away and the famous castle at Criccieth 25 miles. A scenic drive of 30-50 miles will take you to the Snowdonia National Park, an area of stunning natural beauty with a wealth of visitor attractions such as the Welsh Highland Railway, Caernarfon Castle and Zip World aerial zip wire.

RUSSIAN BANYA EXPERIENCE

The owners of Ysgubor Bach have lived and worked in Russia and wanted to bring a little bit of Russian tradition to Wales - so they built a Banya !

This self-indulging relaxation in the Banya is a truly wonderful experience - come and enjoy the secret that millions of Russians have known for centuries: the cleansing and refreshing atmosphere of traditional sauna bathing. Enjoy the facilities with your family and friends and have a relaxation experience of a lifetime.

The luxury Russian Banya, or sauna, offers guests the opportunity to experience what is known as "wet heat." The Russian Banya usually has temperatures of 60-80 degrees Celsius with humidity at about 60-70%. The design of the Russian Banya involves the use of a wood-burning stove that heats up the special stones present inside the stove itself. It is these stones that absorb, hold, and slowly release the large amounts of heat that offer the guest an invigorating and relaxing experience. Also, the Russian Banya has a bucket of water with a ladle, which is used to gently pour drops of water onto the stones so as to raise the humidity of the Banya.

The Banya is available as an option between 1100 and 2200 and the maximum number of persons that can be accommodated at one time is 8. If you wish to use the banya during your stay please provide 24 hours’ notice as the stove needs to be prepared for some hours before it is hot enough to use. A 3-hour Banya session costs £25 per person (min 2 persons), and a towel and sheet per person are provided. All you need bring are a swimsuit and a pair of flip-flops, and a bathrobe if you wish. Children are also welcome to experience the Banya but must be carefully supervised at all times. (over 10 HALF-PRICE and under 10 FREE)

A birch venik (£5) may also be purchased and instructions on its use can be provided, and we have felt hats for rent (£2) if required.
