This cosy cottage is situated in a quiet old yard off Sandgate in the heart of historic Whitby. The cottage has a balcony from which you have the most spectacular free views of the harbour and the hustle and bustle across the famous Swing Bridge. With the balcony and river views, this is one of the most popular cottages in Whitby. The cottage is handily placed for a variety of quaint shops, cafes and restaurants.

Old stone steps lead up to the cottage.

GROUND FLOOR:
Entrance: Hallway
Shower Room: Double shower, toilet and washbasin.
Lounge: Electric fire, Freesat TV, DVD and CD player.
Kitchen: Fridge with separate freezer, gas hob with electric oven and extractor fan, microwave and dishwasher.
Fairly steep cottage stairs lead to the first floor.

FIRST FLOOR:
Master Bedroom: Double bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe This room also has harbour views.
En-suite: Bath, power shower over the bath. toilet and washbasin.
Bedroom 2: Twin beds, chest of drawers and wardrobe.

Pets: Sorry, no pets.
Garden: French doors opening up to the balcony overlooking the harbour.
Parking: No parking provided. Parking in Council car parks nearby.
Heating: Gas central heating.
Short breaks: Not accepted at peak times.
Notes: Towels are provided. Disposable BBQs not permitted at the property or on the balcony or entrance gallery.  
Mobile phone signal is weak. WiFi is not available. No smoking at this property.
Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town.

Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town , and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

This is a beautifully located property - watching boats go by on a morning and evening was so lovely; it makes for the perfect peaceful break. Whitby is such a friendly place with lots to do and lovely walks; I would definitely recommend this cottage with its special views. We were very comfortable there and had a really special week.

Stayed at Smugglers Cottage several times over the years and love its location. Its a great place to stay and relax and enjoy watching the boats in the harbour.

A hidden gem.Lovely view of the harbour through the new balcony doors,nice coffee table, and well equipped compact kitchen.Worth overcoming the slightly awkward access. we will be back.

We have just had a lovely holiday in the smugglers cottage we will definitely be back ,the beds were so comfortable it was clean and had everything we could have needed and the view was fantastic I would definitely recommend to my family and friends
