Nestling in a pretty, wooded glade, at the end of a half mile private road, Wagtail Cottage is one of a small group of properties surrounded by open farmland.  Tucked away in peaceful countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, close to Gisburn Forest with its mountain bike tracks and walking routes, Wagtail Cottage is situated at the end of a half mile private road. This comfortable cottage is one of a small group of properties surrounded by open farmland situated within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Garden produce can be purchased when available. The cottages have been comfortably furnished to a high standard and provide excellent holiday accommodation, which is personally managed by the owners and their family. Well maintained, the cottages all have their own patios, which then merge into landscaped gardens, making this an idyllic and peaceful setting for a rural holiday.

On site there is a 10 x 5m heated indoor swimming pool, a games room with table tennis, pool table, table football and childrens' games as well as a full size snooker table. A tennis court and 7 a side football field provide entertainment for the more energetically minded but for those with peace and quiet in mind an afternoon by the stream can be most relaxing. Holidaymakers have access to the farmland, through which there some very pleasant walks. For the more adventurous the Three Peaks are on the doorstep where the open fells and moors provide a superb backdrop for more stunning scenery. Close by is Gisburn Forest, where there are many way-marked cycle trails and walks.  For mountain bikers there are some excellent trails in the Gisburn Forest which are suitable for all levels. There is secure bike storage and bike wash available on site. There is also coarse fishing on Stocks Reservoir and fly fishing on the River Ribble.

Heating and hot water are supplied by a central boiler fuelled by wood chip, and all lighting is by low energy bulbs. All cleaning products are made on site from natural materials.

The busy, attractive market town of Settle is just seven miles away and the Yorkshire Dales, Trough of Bowland and Lake District are all easily accessible by car.

We had a wonderful stay as a family of ten, the swimming pool facilities were great as well as the games room. This is the fourth time we have been and am sure we will be back again in the near future!

We had the most wonderful time celebrating my daughter's birthday here. The cottage was a perfect base and the pool and games facilities went down a treat. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. So much space for everyone to be together and also be able to to their own thing. Be aware the pool and game room is on a time table. So yRead moreou do not have acces at all times but the acces is private for your slot. The one negative to be aware of is the water is not great. Odd smell and colour, I believe this is an issue of the area and not the accommodation though and they were so kind to provide us with large bottles of water as no one fancied drinking it! I would bring extra bottles. Was not easy to find! But once we did we had a great time. Would fully recommend this place to anyone. And will probably return! Hide

We had such a lovely trip away at the cuckoos nest. It was well equipped with everything we needed, clean and spacious. The games room and swimming pool made the stay especially with a variety of age groups within the family. Would stay again and recommend others booking this great cottage in a great rural location!

A very pleasant week. My apologies we did not strip the beds, but with 3 disabled people in our party I didn't read that we had to do that until we were about to leave

If you want a quiet place to relax with family and friends you could do no better than Cuckoos Nest. Whilst not luxurious it is clean and comfortable and has everything you need and more. The surroundings are idyllic and plenty to do in the surrounding area. The pool and games room are fantastic and well maintained. Great place for our Family to celebrate our sons 40th Birthday, we came well equipped to cook for ourselves for the week as it is a good way from a shop, However the swimming pool & Games room were fab for us All, With timed slots which worked really well, for sharing with the other cottages. Very spacious accommodation that was well equipped. ButRead more bring own loo roll as we nearly ran out as didnt realise we needed to provide our own. Never had to do this in other cottages we have stayed at, but understand & we sorted it but had to travel quite a way to a shop. The outside space was lovely too, including the football field. We were not bored at all . The bathrooms are a little dated but it is all very clean on the whole. We found the beds were not that comfortable but realise that is sometimes personal preference. The water had a strange smell so take some bottled water. we would however stay again as it was Great for our needs. Hide

Although we ended up having a lovely time I think the cottages were over priced. One good thing was the cottages were lovely and warm and we were in control of the heating. The cottages were spacious enough to cater for 10 of us and a dog.
