Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town.

Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town , and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

Quirky cottage in the centre of Whitby. As previously mentioned in other reviews that the staircases would not be suitable for elderly. This Cottage has everything you will need for a self catering break. Would stay again without hesitation.

Nice cottage in a very convenient location; clean, warm and well-equipped. The stairs are very steep which might be a problem for anyone less mobile, but generally very good and excellent value for money. Great for access to the town and surprisingly quiet given how central it is..

we have stayed at this cottage before and would do so again as it is in a great location for train & bus station and the shops. It is just the right size for us.

Lovely old cottage in the heart of Whitby. Well equipped and clean, owner was very helpful and responsive with a slight issue we had. Just be aware that the cottage is situated down an alley off a road with very limited parking. Overall we were very happy with our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

A comfortable, charming, old cottage with a good central location ideal for the bus and railway stations, shops, restaurants and river walks. There are a few drawbacks such as the approach is not very attractive and the stairs are somewhat tricky for the very young and very old - a lot of care is needed. However it is warm, has a lot of original feRead moreatures, having two toilets is a definite bonus and there is a good view of Whitby Abbey from the bathroom. Hide
